Less Cutscenes, more Gameplay

To follow up on what he saying budgets are usually put in place before work is even started meaning the cutscenes were created out of the allotted budget given to that particular department. Also the percentage of each department are usually given annually or quarterly depending on the company. Like this poster said they would have to seriously cut the department to even be able to use “cash” elsewhere. You could have an argument if the department was going over budget and they had to syphon money from other departments.

ONCE AGAIN OP is liking their own post with an army of alts.

This is getting ridiculous.

Not saying I disagree, but it is worth noting that an “intern who wasn’t good with lore” was responsible for Silverpine questing Horde side post Cata which resulted in the devs coming out and saying that wasn’t canon due to the whole forced enslavement of the Forsaken. At least according to the old forums.

That’s the thread.

reminds me of how often a dungeon finder Culling of Stratholme would dissolve before whole Uther-Arthas-Jaina RP thing could be skipped

You mean that obvious placeholder actually made it into the final game?

Cringe

Nuh uh. I like cut scenes.

Also, I always do a mental Squee when I get to see Muffin here in one of them.

Glad you could make it, Uther.

Sigh… no, I didn’t.
What that sentence says is: The department probably works on other assets (licenses) from Blizzard. Meaning, if wow specific cinematics were to be cut, that does not mean their budget would go to development. It would still stay in the department but redirected to other projects. I seriously cannot make this more simple for you to understand how the world works.

Watch your tone with me, boy.

Man, I used to love doing CoS runs, back in the day. Even after I got the mount from there, still loved running it. The music is awesome in that dungeon.

I swear I used to have moments during the day at work where I would hear the yelling ring in my ears.

I’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth if I have to! Do you hear me? To the ends of the earth!

Agreed. I understand the fully rendered cutscenes are expensive, but they could at least tweak the in-game cutscenes so they’re not just using the /emotes. Or edit them better so they match the dialogue. Machinima makers put more care into matching toons to dialogue than Blizzard does.

I may or may not have the Latin lyrics from the gauntlet run chants, macro’d to my Pally bubble, along with popping the Lightbringer tabard at the same time.

Well he was experience in the department he was working for he just wasn’t fully aware of the lore for the specific group he was doing the quest for in this case the Kin Tor

How are the cut scenes “anime”?

and more horses

If anything, there needs to be more cutscenes when appropriate, and more story being told in-game.

It’s so unsatisfying having one or two small events occur each update with months in between before it continues or reaches a conclusion.

Development /= “other projects”

Gotcha.

You must have an org chart I don’t have access to.

This I can agree with. Especially considering how multi-media WoW’s story is. We need more consistent story telling in game to help us understand what all’s going on. The burning of Teldrassil’s a perfect example. People lost their marbles over it. And then when the Lost Honor cinematic came out, we had much more clarification involving Saurfang’s outrage over the whole thing.
