I think that’s a fair point. I read over everyones comments and conversations yesterday, and thought about it some more last night.
It seems like Blizzard has backed themselves into a corner here where they aren’t going to be able to please both sides easily.
I believe the best possible answer is to reintroduce challenges/cosmetics like this into every expansion going forward. I think that this was possibly the idea behind the delve mount, but the community seems to collectively agree that the mount compared to CMs, CM Weapons, and Artifact appearances is… not really comparable.
However, I think they are purposely trying to move away from this model of rewards, but it puts the legacy rewards in an awkward position. It also makes the return of a AOTC mount particularly hard to stomach because it falls into that “never returning prestigious” category. I believe they should walk that back if they aren’t going to return MT cosmetics.
Having said all of that, I think the phasing out of FOMO stuff and reintroducing old stuff is the best course of action. I think it alienates new players in a game that has a large focus around player expression (transmog). However, I don’t know if they can do that at this point, but what do I know ![]()
