Leaving keys

its was moreso i genuinely care about being a dick or not. I think my actions were justified though.

I was arguing against that one specific line I quoted. Not that OP shouldn’t have left. I think he’s totally fine leaving in that situation. I even said it was a tangent.

So, honest question here, you feel the need to have others dictate as to whether or not you were in the wrong?

Are you unable to make this assessment on your own? This is what I referenced in not being sure if you wanted a pat on the back (for saying you did the right thing) or on the butt (for saying you’re a jerk.)

I’m not entirely sure which you’re looking for, or both, maybe? :man_shrugging:t2:

its called a conversation.

Ask for your ~45k gold cut. Frankly that is why I look at health bars when I join groups. Not ~350k health? Get out of here. Not here to carry people without getting paid since the dungeon is by default going to take 50% longer.

Unless you’re getting cut of that pie, I’d would’ve quit too!

You don’t know it’s a paid carry it could be a very experienced group boosting one of their alts, presumably it’s going to be a pretty smooth run if it’s just one person. Probably best to say upfront regardless.

If the key was going to be timed i would stay. If they keep dying/wiping i would of left

So long as you leave before the key gets entered, you’re perfectly in the clear IMO.

If you left after the key was entered, and especially if it wasn’t going terribly (2x 440 DPS can easily carry an undergeared DPS through something like a 12, especially if they’re FotM DPS like Rogues or DH’s), that makes you a jerk.

Honestly, I don’t mind carrying someone, as long as that is stated upfront. However if I’m in a group and there is someone who is just dead weight like that, and could cost the timer, then screw em.

I mean if you’re failing the timer and/or wiping, absolutely, leave. They’re wasting your time.

But, if the run is going smoothly, why does it even matter how much DPS anyone is else doing? In that case, you just wasted your own time since you threw away a perfectly good run for a petty reason.

Even if one person is getting paid and not splitting it with the other 3?

I mean, if you didn’t expect to get paid for the key to begin with, what do you lose out on if the key is going well to begin with? You still get your loot at the end.

Assuming it is of course, a paid carry and not someone dragging a guildy or friends alt (or even main, if they’re newish) through a key.

If you’re halfway through a key and you’re only just realizing that it’s a hard carry, well, that’s on you for not being attentive enough.

If they also brought a big pumper to make up for it I would stay but not if we were struggling. If they bring a guy in blues doing 3k dps they had better bring a dude doing 50k as well. I would also ask the carry if they were buying a carry and if they were I would ask for my cut from the group leader.

If you were just trying to finish, I don’t see what the problem is.

Im not against carries. But like others said, they should have been up front about it. If theyre getting paid to carry then its not exactly fair to rope randoms who arent getting paid into it.

I did lots of keys in Legion. I never saw a carry group listed. But it was often the case that in a low to medium key, the group leader and another dps were slightly undergeared, and he was bringing his best friend who had no gear at all and was going to be dead the whole time and unable to help. So they decided to pug a tank and healer in and get a group carry.

And the problem was, the group leader didn’t think he was doing anything wrong. He was just doing a favor for a buddy who had just turned 110 and had no gear. He didn’t realize that the key he lucked into was something none of them was ready for.

A group like that couldn’t get past the first trash pack in BRH. That’s why I say it doesn’t make any difference whether a carry is a paid carry or somebody doing a favor for a buddy.

I did get angry whispers when I dropped a group immediately on being accepted and finding the group comp couldn’t complete the key. But ilvl doesn’t lie.

No. While I’ve never had that issue, if i saw it happening i wouldn’t hesitate to leave. People at least need to do the courteous thing and let people know ahead of time so they can consciously opt in or out.

Blizzard doesn’t care about people leaving keys, so do what ever makes you happy.
As for me, I would never leave a key under any circumstances, and wouldn’t expect others to either.
Keystone leavers are my #1 issue with this game right now, and its a shame that it only seems to get worse as the season moves on.

But doesn’t seem like anything will change so not much can be said or done until it does.
