Leaving a guild

That’s the oversimplified answer for sure, but you gotta understand that when you play with the same people for 5, 10 years, it becomes more than just “ok this guild is dead, bye”.

Unless you’re the type who can’t view internet friends as real friends, which is psychotic IMO, but not particularly uncommon.

I still say OP should leave, but that’s why I brought up Discord. If they’re still friends and still in regular contact, leaving isn’t as big of a thing.

No its that easy… people just want to complicate it…

There is nothing wrong with leaving. Just state your reasons and be mutual about it. People are more understanding when its properly communicated.

Make an alt and join another guild,

If you like your new guild then gquit and transfer your main over.

I use to do this, level a brand new alt and not connect my mains io to it, see how people treat your fresh 70 with 0 experience.

You can leave and find a new guild. If you like the people and want to play with them still then stick around in the discord or add them to bnet ect. I have friends from old guilds who I still play with.

I’d leave. I took the 4-5 friends I liked playing with and we started our own!

Bruh I don’t exaggerate when I say that the last time I had qualms about leaving a guild was in Wrath. With the game’s current design these people can all be replaced in about 30 seconds. If they are having an impact on how you play the game in a negative way then go for it and find a better spot.

I say find another guild, just because you aren’t in the guild anymore doesn’t mean you can’t be friends with them. Besides, if they get on you for leaving the guild all because you want to be a part of something else then they aren’t true friends. It’s not fun staying in a dead guild, so find a guild you want to do content with. Or, you can leave the guild on your main and put an alt in there. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to server transfer either, your realm is dead and I can just tell because I’ve never heard of the name.

Its a difficult question and its the issue I currently have. My guild’s GM has not been online in 10 months, and hardly more than 2 or 3 people are on at any time.

Problem is, I’m not sure it would be better in any other guild. The guild roster shows as having 500+ characters but when the leader is AWOL and no more than 3 people are around, its difficult to know until you join how moribund it is. And the same situation happens with other guilds; they advertise through the Guild Finder, show up as being ‘Large’ due to their character roster but chances are when you sign on you will still be in a non-active guild.

If you have any alts I’d suggesting taking a couple out and trying some other guilds to see if you can find one thats active and fits your needs. It’s what I’m doing.

If no one has a ability to recruit… Create your own guild

Yes, because it’s that simple. Managing a guild is like trying to manage middle school children. You have to deal with drama, plan events, officer meetings, etc. I’m not saying creating a guild isn’t a fun experience but it’s not the simplest thing out there to do.

It didn’t have to be him good gravy. He has a core group of people.

You just type /guildquit. it is that simple.

Could set up a second guild with Discord to try to keep pals, otherwise gquit. Feels bad at the time but gets better.

My 2 cents, find a new group. Regardless of leaving the guild. I have my guild, and a second guild that I have befriended, which allows me to do more. Often, of late, we’ve been combining the efforts of both groups to do even more, allowing everyone to become more engaged.

Make or out an alt in the guild and move your main. If the guild comes back you can happily rejoin but if it stays dead you won’t lose time on making new friends and enjoying new content.

I’ve been playing MMOs since the last 90s. In all the games and guilds that I have been in not once have any of the members of the guilds I belonged to decided to let me know when they were done playing. They have always just gradually stopped playing over time. I have been close to some of these people as well with voice chat and personal calls.

Is the guild inactive? Do they communicate to you anymore? You have to look at for yourself. If you don’t do anything with them anymore then it’s time to move on. Add them to your friend list and find another guild. Stop hanging around in the dead guild with a false notion that you have to appease absent members. They moved on without you. Now it’s time for you to move on for yourself.

I am stuck in a dead guild as well, I like the guild name though so I am staying in it. I was recruited back before Dragon Flight came out. Was told it was an active guild and they were preparing for the new content. Then Dragonflight came out and the guild leader came on and said they moved to a different realm. So I just stayed in the guild. I am a bear Tank and I don’t have any issues with any groups or anything like that.

Wait, people actually have guilds? I literally can’t even find any invites anywhere.

Just run PUGs and hope for the best, mate. Or get lucky and find a new guild before you leave the one you’re in. Either way, guilds aren’t a permanent commitment. People come and go. You can still be homies even if you’re in a different guild.
