So I decided to try mercinary mode for the first time and I was in for a horrible surprise. I currently am wearing 2 of the Darkshore warfront pieces, both of which I have transmoged over. However when I entered the BG as a mercinary it force changed those pieces to the alliance version over my transmog which doesnt have any faction specific pieces.
I understand that faction specific appearances are meant to swap to the opposite factions version but it should not overwrite my transmog that does not have faction specific gear. I looked like a complete clown with my boots and chest not match, it was horrible! And it’s my understanding it is going to be the same way in the next raid when we do the flashback moments.
My belf keeps most of his heritage armor when using merc mode. If I use the orb of the sin’dorei he even keeps his helm! It’s pretty funny to have it on with the Horde flag toy.
Am I the only one who remembers Maiev professing that she had no reason to live with Illidan dead and throwing herself off the Black Temple?
I swear that happened. I thought they retconned her death when they brought her into Legion. Spooky Mandela effect.
That’s utterly horrifying. The wording of the patch note for it seems like it is intended behavior though.
If your character’s race or faction cosmetically changes (such as in Battle of Dazar’alor or Mercenary Mode), any Horde or Alliance-centric armor and weapon appearances your character is wearing or has transmogrified to will update to appear as the enemy faction’s version.
I have no idea why we have to appear as clown-suited murder hobos when we wear the guise of the opposite faction, and I dearly hope this overwriting of our glorious transmogs is reconsidered as a terrible idea.
I’d much rather wear the appearence of a generic full version of an Alliance outfit, rather than have certain pieces of my outfit clash just because they came from a Warfront, no matter what I have them transmogged into.
The wording is kinda iffy, but the effect can’t be intentional.
It may be “unavoidable” due to system limitations, but that they’d explicitly code in an overwrite to the transmogrification? This isn’t spiteful enough to merit that kind of effort.
It says anything faction specific your character is wearing or is transmogged into will be overwritten.
When I first read the patch note for it, I thought it was just overriding transmogs, and I was preparing my wardrobe for the tier to not include anything that would be changed into a mess.
Now it seems like I have to consider the actual gear I am wearing itself, and pass on things that would otherwise be upgrades, because it is faction-specific.
You mean Outland BiS gear where some of the pieces were crafted and in different categories. This one was wearing a light blue filigreed vest (until they finally made a robe that we had to recreate - more mat farmings) over blue & red & gold striped pants. Hideous. Shadowform covered it well enough until someone did an inspect. Then they fell on the floor laughing.
Bad times for visuals back in those days. A lot of gagging sounds from this side of the keyboard.
