Learning from Other MMOs

The gearing system from FFXIV, which ironically they took from WoW but made it better.

Not sure who even does this, but get rid of the homophobic players.

FFXIV does this, they exist but they just can’t be homophobic in the game or they get insta-banned so they just keep it to themselves.

But also there’s so many LGBTQ+ friendly guilds that it’s basically impossible, they’d insta-kick you and report you if you tried.

Raid bosses not locking you out until you actually loot a piece of gear from the boss. From FFXIV

Habbo Hotel.

There should be a pixel-art style isometric view mode of cities etc. to make it easier to navigate.

Might be a silly idea, but I would welcome a more “overview” kind of UI in non-combat content.

The level of customization most other MMOs seem to have. I’d like FFXIV levels of character creation, but still with the WoW aesthetic.

Probably not much else. If I wanted a lot features from other MMOs I’d play those MMOs.

Class swapping from FFXIV. Gearing alts is such a miserable experience in this game that I just refuse to do it, despite wanting to play other classes.

This would be a major overhaul and would never happen, but yeah.

 from a video game?

This is World Of Warcraft - not the US Capitol, put away your “patriotism”.

Put away your “lgbt patriotism” you hypocrit

Take more ideas from GW2. A lot of their PvE content is really fun. Their dungeons actually have mechanics you have to do in order to progress or actually have to pay attention. I’m so tired of these “race to the finish / tank and spank” dungeon bull from both WoW and XIV ngl.

Show us where Hunter Biden’s laptop touched you.

Absolutely not. FFXIV’s class/jobs system is the most boring thing on the planet and being able to swap on a whim is just for the severely lazy.

Sadly, I decided to roll a Devastation Dracthyr. (The one I am trapped by the forum to post on, and cannot switch. Ugh.) So yes, I died an embarrassing amount of times while leveling up. These things are (were? at time of writing) paper-armored garbage.

That’s part of why I just don’t do dungeons in WoW lmao. I don’t think they’re boring, per se, but FFXIV’s only actual lasting content being endless dungeon/raid running made me absolutely sick to death of the content in general regardless of what MMO I’m playing. I barely did dungeons in ESO because of it. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

That, and some mechanics in WoW aren’t super intuitive + there’s a habit of Blizz making AoEs the same color or an equally muted color as the floor. I have old grandma eyes, I can’t see that kinda junk. :dracthyr_cry:

As far as things WoW could learn from other MMOs: agreed on delves from ESO, they’re honestly pretty fun casual content that I looked at fondly when I ran into them.

Endless crafting bag, too. While an argument can be made that ESO locks that behind a sub, it still exists and is a great idea for people focusing on gathering and crafting as their primary content. I’ve honestly wished the reagent bank had far, far more space than it does. Even if they couldn’t/didn’t do a bottomless reagent bank, even just adding the ability to place extra bags into unlockable slots (like the normal bank) would go a long way.

It’s a bit more of a random want, but honestly, the sailing that ArcheAge had was one of the more fun bits of content an otherwise badly-managed and poorly-made game had. I’d love the ability to build our own boats somehow (maybe a new profession, or tacking on to a current one if possible), and be able to use them to sail around the world in a similar manner as the main harbor boats. They’d also be great for fishing.

ESO’s style of player housing, too, would be an obvious dot on the list. Though I’d be satisfied with them just remembering garrisons exist, and doing more with them.

Longer name entries that allow for a space in between. It’d especially help the RP community.

Being able to dye gear. Even just the primary color, if nothing else - but ideally, GW2 or ESO’s triple-slot dye system.

Also: let us transmog any set of gear our class can actually equip. Druids, for example, have the ability to equip cloth, even though their primary gear is leather. Why can I not transmog cloth items or earn their appearances, even though I have the ability to wear cloth armor? It’s a little silly, and so many classes are like this. It’d open up a lot more transmog options, especially for people who may love a class but not be fond of its primary armor type.

Those are just a few thoughts I had. WoW at its core is a fairly satisfying experience for me, far more so than games like FFXIV where they ‘convenience’ everything so hard the world suffers for it. WoW striking a good balance of convenience vs. exploration, like ESO, is all I can really ask for.
