I remember the discussion on that, but not any outcome. I don’t think it was answered but may be wrong.
That’s why I wasn’t all nochanges about the layers at the start. It makes sense to spin them up at launches because there is a big population boom that dies off, and having 100 servers to accommodate that wouldn’t be great.
I don’t want to get into a long rant about what happened with TBCC and beyond with the servers due the the layers thing, because this is the Era forum, and I think having the one bigger PVP and PVE clusters with some smaller servers/clusters (and there could even be more merged) is fine as it is.

Welcome, I do my best to always present accurate information. On other things that I am not certain of I do ask questions or mark as “allegedly” but on this one I knew for certain it was not enabled.

every tuesday nova claims there is a 2nd layer. its a bug with the addon, layers are 100% gone on era as of last year…
Well I had massive pop-in in SW city trade dist… so not sure. Ill look further into it, but perhaps what you say is true, I want to be for sure that layers don’t sprout up.
It’s not like Blizz is known to lie. Like, Classic Era being “no changes”, yet there’s changes…
Alas, if they are going to implement changes, they should go all the way with it, like the new Guild UI window should include the Guild Finder and/or the Pending Guild Applicant features. It’s missing those.

I disagree with this.
I disagree that we need a worse Retail version of the “Retail change” they’re trying to implement.
I disagree because there should be NO changes at all whatsoever.
While, I agree, whenever they do put those changes in, I’d rather it be the fully functioning version of it and not a partial of it.
That’s fair but we should as a collective push back against any changes.

But, again, Blizz seems really stubborn to keep the new Guild UI, hence my push for the fuller version of it with the Guild Finder & Pending Guild Applicants features.
As others have pointed out, layers never really went away, but they exist to solve a specific problem, that being server load vs. login queue times.
If you want layers to go away, do you have any alternative proposals to mitigate the problems that layers currently solve?

I agree with Tubbly, they’re not really gone. Soon as any Era server hits a multiple of people on it, to increase capacity, layers pop into existence.
