Layering and Gameplay

Yeah but they aren’t even trying. Zero effort.

They made zero examples, set zero precedent… and that’s why everyone feels okay to exploit it now.

The Thing is Coolankel they Also didnt Make any policy for people Shouldnt Be doing such and such so by right to us it maybe a Exploit But if blizzard Doesnt Consider it to Be exploiting But figures It does need to be Fixed they will Do it that way instead

It’s not about the money, friend. They have a stated design goal for how this plays out, and they hope that the end result is servers with a healthy population, as opposed to 5 times more servers than we have now, with many of them with a small population after the tourists check out.

Disagree with their strategy all you want, That’s fine. It has nothing to do with money.

I accept that, and I find that aligns well with my long-term hopes for server population. The intentions are good. I see that. I am just somewhat disheartened by the side-effects, and the inability to keep these side-effects in control.

Unfortunatly It is Probably Something that yes they Should of Probably Predicted Would happen but at the Same time they have alot of Other Crap going on and on there minds With DDOS Attacks it is very Easy to overlook minor things

Yeah, I also find that they disagree with how it is being used… they lightly touch on the word “exploit” when talking on the subject… but failed to set a policy and therefore are not disciplining. ALTHOUGH there is precedent for “misusing a mechanic for an unintended advantage is disciplinary”. That was always a rule by Blizzard, kind of their rule to cover things not covered by the rules.

And I believe / strongly suspect that a very small fraction of players HAVE taken the time to use this “exploit” to its fullest potential. Blizzard has stated not too long ago that their investigation found the affect of layering on the economy is quite minuscule. While this may be true, and 99% of players do not layer often, or at least do not layer with the intentions of abusing the mechanic but rather just by joining a group, what is going to happen with the 1% who do misuse layering, and not just once in a while?

Also, what are the implications of layering based on grouping. Players whose nature is to be in and out of groups will be more affected by layering than those who don’t group up as much - this will, at least for the foreseeable future, have a major impact on a player’s experience.

Hey Maybe they just Felt the need to fix it rather then start handing discipline who Knows how there thinking we arnt in there offices and with everything that has been going on with ddos maybe they said let it slide maybe they didnt but who knows but them

So Blizzards servers, 15 years ago, handled it. The way they did it is they had a reasonable population cap on each server. Then for the ones with big queues, they allowed free transfers to lower pop realms, so entire guilds could move. We took advantage of that to get off Mannoroth to Cho’gall back in the day with our whole guild.

Then when some realms became low pop, they merged them.

It’s not that hard. If they could do it 15 years ago, when you had sub 1k passmark single core CPUs, they can do it today with 40K passmark 44core+ cpus and 10gig ethernet.

We need to stop making excuses for this giant billion dollar gaming company that has intellectual and physical resources at its disposal that we can’t dream of and ask that we get what we had 15 yrs ago. Or have we gotten so much dumber in 15 years that we can’t do it today?

I wish people would stop crying about this. It’s not ideal, but that guy “gaining an advantage” is also speeding up YOUR journey. If a guy jumps layers because there are too many people killing boars… guess what??? YOU have less competition for boars.

If there are five registers open at the super market, and one guy changes lines because one of them is shorter, the guys that were behind him in line get out sooner too.

It is not the boogeyman everyone wants to make it out to be.

it’s not intended but people were saying that this would happen months before release lmao. to top it off they implemented it with no CD

Leshraque, the world’s second 60 says he has 300 devilsaur leather. He knows someone on Horde side who has 300 lotus. I know that’s not in the thousands, but that’s an insane amount. What is that even going to do to the economy? You will have a handful of Crassuses on every server able to spend good to do as they wish in pretty profound ways.

blizzard servers today cant even handle warmode pvp…lol.
