Layer switching is the problem, not layering itself

Sounds like a winner to me. Maybe get you people more engaged with the game, and less focused on exploiting layers.

make a new server without layering, and i would happily start over…
not gonna lie, the layering system ruined my MMO experience

economy are already ruined, having good item are less meaningful, the MMO experience are nonexistence since i barely see anyone on the area, pretty much have to solo everything

Why do we even still have layers? Launch is over and it’s obvious that some people are exploiting them even if not everyone or not as bad as some people have made it out to be. It’s been a week. People are spread out. On top of that, the major cities all look dead compared to actual vanilla and it’s just a bad look.

How much longer can we expect to deal with these layers?

Yes punish other players trying to get guild signatures because of the crap layering preventing them from seeing people on different layers. Also punish those wanting to setup groups for killing Hogger or whatever because again people are on different layers.

Simplest solution GET RID OF LAYERING PERIOD! Hell I find it hard to trade myself something because my alt is on ANOTHER LAYER same server and all same level. Different damn layer.

So far what my guild noticed a guaranteed layer hop is if someone from a different continent invites you to a party it’s 100% every time we’ve tested. ex. if im in desolace and my guildy is getting smashed in hillsbrad I invite him and it’s literally just him and the mobs.

Wanting to quest with my wife is hardly exploiting layers.

This. The economies are absolutely ruined. Sh!t ruined. All because of the many layers that make this possible to botch the economies.

lol ok there buddy. Good luck.

Truth but seems like making gear works wonders for making gold now.

What does r1 have to do with quests?

Layers should be removed, the drawbacks are greater than the benefits.

The only thing that would make me resub at this point is a fresh server with no layering. Classic is over otherwise, we’ve gotten so far ahead in a week that people are going to be bored out of their minds in a month… and anyone who didn’t exploit will be so far behind economically that there’s no point. By the time Phase 2 drops the exploiters will be sitting in full BiS with so many spare consumables that pvp is already guaranteed to be a joke. It’s honestly mind-blowing that a company could @#$& up this bad at re releasing a game they already released.

The damage is already done. Letting these abusers keep all the items they received from layer hopping has ruined the AH on many servers.

We are still waiting for a answer. What is going to be done about the people that exploited layering to level to 60 at record speed? Is it ok for all of us to exploit layering in such a manner?

Good ideas all around but the economy is still ruined and it can’t be fixed. Now I can not speak on all servers but on Bigglesworth and Faerilina gathering professions are worthless and so is fishing. Yeah you can hold on to the stuff and wait for the prices to return (which they may never do because people have so much now thanks to layering).
FIshing is also not selling anything either, not Deviate Fish, not Winter Squid. Everything is not even flooded on the AH. Nothing is selling because people and guilds have all the mats they need for a few years.
So unless you want to delete everything made by exploiting layers, mats, gold, items. You have officially ruined the economy for most players. This is what you did in retail over time and sold gold when professions largely became worthless (I don’t believe this is an accident - I believe it was intentional).

You brought back Classic after years of resistance because of player passion. The launch was great and you have new exposure to WoW’s prime. And then you guys think layering is a good idea and ruin the economy. Way to crap where you eat. You should have opened more servers, put populations at a hard cap with a lock.
Layering ruined the leveling experience especially on PVP servers.

Blizzard never lies. When they want to avoid a bullet, they play with words, throw in the lawyer speech and doesn’t actually confirm/deny the info. When a CM straight up says something is false, it’s because it’s false. Period.

Yep massive multi billion dollar corporations who engineer microtransactions with psychology to best exploit children and people with addictive personalities to extract as much money from them as possible never lie.

Newman: How big is a single layer? What’s the end target you’re shooting for, for each server?

Hazzikostas: Each layer is effectively going to be what a healthy server was at launch in 2004 in terms of the number of people it holds.

(It will not let me include a link, but this is from a forbes article from 8/26/2019 titled: ‘Warcraft Classic’ Layering And Realm Queues: Ion Hazzikostas Explains Why You’re Waiting To Log In)

Apologies if I wasn’t more clear with what i was saying. The number of people in a layer is representative of the number of people on a server ‘back in the day’. I understand that today, these servers hold well in excess of the population of a Vanilla server, and in Wow Classic this much larger number is split into different layers.

The point I have been trying to make to that other guy is that if wow could feel “full” back in vanilla, with the relatively lower player count on those servers vs today’s much larger servers, and if the number of a people on a layer approximates the number of people on a Vanilla server, then “layering” should have no bearing on why he thinks his server feels empty.

I think that’s because the entire point is to emphasis the outrage, not solution. What would people do if there was nothing to freak out about?

This exactly. I’ve seen the videos of what the private servers can handle. Is blizzard running each server off of a rasberry pi?
