I hate to say it but Blizzard has given up on its policies many many years ago.
Hi Shields. Welcome to the conversation.
Yes, you are right. It has been a few years. I couldnāt say exactly when it happened but I know this⦠I stopped playing competitively when Pandaria came out. I took a much more casual view of the game but kept my account up to date. At that time the RP realms were still being policed by GMās and names were being actioned. I got a little more serious with the game in SL but I donāt recall any names that were flagrant violations or purposely vulgar so the frequency of them was definitely low.
What that leads me to believe is that the launch of Vanilla Classic, when we got that HUGE influx of new players, is where the problems began. That belief is reinforced by my own experiences of reporting names at a much higher frequency than at any time up until SoD and the Lava Lash realm.
No matter the beginning of it I would very much like to see the end of it and if I can get enough people to agree with me⦠well⦠Blizzard will listen.
In the time since I created this post Iāve seen quite a few of the truly offensive names disappear from the server. Blizzard is not unreasonable. As much as I might wish they would be more proactive about their RP Realm policies I know, that with enough voices demanding it, they WILL gradually move towards enforcing the policies as they are written. As opposed to the rather loose view that GMās seem to have at the moment.
So, if you believe rules are meant to be followed, add your voice to ours by reporting names that are clear violations of the ToU.
Thanks for stopping in.
ps - I just remembered something Frank Herbert once wrote. āFear is the mind killer.ā Iām not sure that is entirely true⦠as I get older I begin to believe more and more that apathy is the mind killer.
Imagine following up a direct insult with a long-winded breakup letterā¦
Youāll be back
