Launch night hype is lost because of EA

I don’t find it very fun when I die a cheap death to some stupid bug or something, personally.

But to each their own, I guess? /shrug

Speak for yourself. I’m so hyped
After work today I’m getting to 80 and gonna start lvling my professions and gearing my lock. I wish I were off and didn’t have OT mandatory Saturdays but eh… 20h OT will pay bank.

40$ is a meal at McDonald.

Early access is composed of two types of people. The people you described while being condescending.

The others, like me who enjoyed EA moderately ( I am level 72 ) but who wins at life and for whom 40$ doesn’t even impact their bank accounts.

Plus the 40$ gave you a month of game time.

We all spotted the bitter person who wanted early access but could not afford it.

Heroic Edition: $70
Epic Edition: $90
= $20
-$15, because you’re getting 30 days gametime

$5 left.

So the EA basically costs $5, assuming you consider traders tender, transmog and toys worthless. The real rip-off is the mount that is included in the Hero Edition. But it’s just the price of a typical shopmount after all, like the “Wondrous wavewhisker” which Hirai has bought.

McDonald’s is $40? Where do you live that McD’s is $40? lol. Around here it’s like $8-10.

Not bitter at all. I just think that $40 is ridiculous.

I don’t recall buying a shop mount in several years, pretty sure Legion or even earlier than that was the last time. Perhaps you are referring to the free bonus you get for being subbed for 6 months?

Why are you comparing from the Heroic instead of the Basic Edition? lol. That makes no sense. You’re going from 49.99 to 89.99 and you’re only gaining 500 tender IIRC, and a “meh” mount, a pet, 1 month of time (which itself is only like $12 if you go 6 months), and the 4 days.

Because you were complaining about early access, so they compared to the next one down that doesn’t have early access, which is something that every marketing strategy and price comparison does.

That’s kind of stupid to assume that someone who doesn’t want to pay $89 to get the EA is willing to pay $69 to get a mount and a pet.

Pretty sure the majority of people are either going to get Basic or Epic.

Why do you whiners keep saying that everyone that bought epic edition paid 40 dollars for early acccess. Because this is not true. It is so far from the truth, so generating fake news, and fake facts.

I’m just telling you the reasoning as to why. It’s an industry standard.

Only because people can’t say no with their wallets.

Yeah, we live in an age where people think $40 is something one ought to spend on a few pixels and the ability to play something 4 days early, lol.

But here we are.

The same society also thinks that $100k+ is reasonable for a truck and then spend another several thousand on a lift kit to make a lifted pickup truck that will never haul anything or go off road, so they can become a Pavement Princess.

And people don’t understand why wanton wastefulness and avarice is generally bad for society, lol. Instead they’ll point fingers and laugh at the people who choose not to engage in such and call them “jealous” and “bitter” even though a lot of those people choose not to waste their money.

Here’s a tip: If you’re in debt, you’re not rich. Rich people who are not in debt, didn’t get there by wasting money on fruitless ventures.

“Rich” people who have 50k+ year jobs who are up to their eyeballs in dead with mortgages on their houses will learn one day when their lenders come knocking that they don’t have money, they never did. Any money they thought they had, really belonged to someone else. People lose their homes over this stuff. Nah, I’d rather be debt-free, that way all of my stuff is MINE and doesn’t belong to a bank or a mortgage company.

If that means making a few personal sacrifices like not dumping $40 on pixels and the ability to play a game 4 days before it’s official release, then that’s a sacrifice I’m more than willing to make. I just roll my eyes at people who have mortgages and credit card debts wasting money for stupid stuff like this.

The USA’s financial system itself is going to crash one day and people are going to learn the hard way that shifting debt and fake money around has its consequences.

The rug will be pulled on our frail economy soon enough.
Let them enjoy their WoW. Eat, drink and be merry.

I am not investing in this world, but the eternal one.

I don’t like the crammed up log in launch day marathon runs to try to compete in quest locations the whole time.

I’ll take EA every time. $40 worth it.

Even if you set aside the concept of ‘eternal world’ which most people don’t even believe in anymore, you still gotta ask yourself…

$40? For a mount, a few pets, a toy and a hearthstone effect?

For that much money, you could instead buy 1-3 games on Steam, depending on what you buy and if you’re patient for sales. Whole games, some of which could give you hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours of fun.

The best purchase I ever made for entertainment was Terraria, which I bought for $7.50. I have 1,600 hours clocked into it.

People just don’t realize what $40 can get you if you look for good deals, not only in games, but outside of the internet as well. They throw it around because “$40 is nothing to me” … it’s not nothing. It could be used to make way more effective purchases that makes your life way better than some collection of pixels you will look at for a few seconds and then close the collection panel and never see again.

then let ppl buy EA upgrade for 5$

I don’t have debt and I’m not rich. I must be doing it wrong.

I look at it like this. $40 is a little under 2h of pay for me at work. 2h for three days of early fun on my hobby is a good investment.

I don’t want other games, sure can get three other games for that but that’s if you like junk games.

I only play wow.

I can get only playing one game, but to call games you’ve never seen, touched, or played “junk” is kinda stupid. How would you know if they are junk? You never tried them and you don’t know anything about them.

Playing only WoW and not trying any other game ever, only blinds you to the potential of what WoW could be if they took inspiration from other peoples’ ideas and used them to improve the game.

Existing in a bubble is only going to stagnate your own experiences.

EDIT: Also, people who only play 1 game are also far more susceptible to burn out in general and some of the ‘WoW is boring!’ or ‘WoW is too repetitive!’ … a lot of those people will only play WoW and of course they get burnt out. Gotta set the game aside every now and then to experience other stuff for awhile. Then when you come back, it’s fresher.

My whole guild was on tonight rocking and rolling. Seems like a people issue :man_shrugging:t2:

“Seems like a poor person problem”

“I’m glad the servers won’t be clogged even though the last 3 expansion launches have been playable”

Yes, guys, we know, you don’t need to post cliches over and over. We already know.
