show me were i stated before Christmas
Ion has specifically stated that Shadowlands won’t be another WoD. Now if he keeps his word (big emphasis on the word if) then we’ll get a 9.3, because otherwise Shadowlands will be ‘another WoD’ so I’m personally confident that unless Ion has a really shakey memory, or no longer considers 6.1 to be a major patch, then Shadowlands will get a 9.3 patch.
You’d be lucky to get the next Xpac by thanksgiving 2023 … they’re 4 months behind on a content patch ffs. Anywhere near Xmas or even Easter 2023 would mean they’d have a minor working internal alpha … do honestly think that’s possible being this far behind ALREADY??
again. You stated and put words in my mouth. Where did i say before christmas? Yes 8 months to release a patch is abysmal.
And they lost a huge chunk of their senior coding and design staff because of it
Why does everyone keep thinking there will be a patch 9.3 - Ion only every confirmed a 9.2 in his interview with preach NEVER confirming 9.3.
It took this long for 9.1, and I imagine it will be at least 6 months for patch 9.2 (as I doubt they’ve done much of it already) and that will be the last patch. Next year is time for the next expansion, and there is NO WAY that they will push that back because this is activison we’re talking about. Blizzard make SO much money from selling expansions (like hello at least 5 million people bought SL) so they would rather cut shadowlands short by a patch and get 10.0 out than push it back because it’s just about money.
We may have a small 9.3 patch to keep us occupied while we wait for 10.0, but it will be nowhere near a proper patch since they will be trying to get 10.0 out the door by late 2022.
It depends what 10.0 is.
Have they released any info or suggestions as to what 10.0 will bring yet?
If 10.0 is going to bring back what traditionally made this game so great, a return to form if you will, then i dont think people will care about SL being WOD like in content.
However is 10.0 is going to be just a new set of treadmill gimmicks they might as well try to get it right before rerolling an expansion.
My fear is that with SL they only improved with masking the same layers, treadmills, and micromanagment of how people play that was hated in BFA shows they have no intentions of veering course. I feel like they took everything people complained about in BFA, broke it into pieces, welded it back together for SL. It is vastly improved, ill give them that…but the root of all this games issues are these systems.
The next expansion will have new systems. It’s how they get around button bloat for new abilities every single expansion. Guess what. New systems next expansion. Get used to it
Next expansion will have new grinds and new systems.
Get used to it.
I mean i really dont need to get use to it when i can itch my scratch on a historic server. I still have hopes the developers will return the game to its roots. They can still do dynamic world quests in a game world more like its older self. Eventually theyll have to drop the confrontational approach to what their community wants. Unless ofc im wrong and the games populations been growing since legion not shrinking.
But Morgan Day confirmed that there won’t be a detour mid-expansion like there’s traditionally been and that it’s just straight to the Jailer. That would mean either Zovaal has to carry two tiers back-to-back, 9.3 would be a non-sequitur, or 9.2 is the end and all Ion meant was that they weren’t giving up on the expansion.
If 9.1 fails I personally will be completely done with WoW and a new expansion wont bring me back. Played since 2005 and I’m barely hanging on. I came back a couple months ago after taking like a 3 or 4 month break and all I do now is emissaries and log off, sad times.
If they dump the expansion too soon or put little effort into rounding it out, people will start to think that buying an expansion isn’t worth while either. I think they will still put in the effort on 9.2 and then shift their focus towards the new expansion, then later drop a small 9.3 update like they did to tie us over in BFA with N’zoth.
It’s always important to remember that the credibility of a post dramatically decreases when the poster isn’t posting from a max level toon. There’s been no word on a 9.3 or lack thereof. Based on their decisions to not hold Blizzcon this year and instead do another even some time early 2022 I’d be willing to say that 9.1 could last us probably to the end of this year.
The games population doesn’t hugely matter. It’s not like they make most of their money from subscriptions anymore. Most of their cash flow comes from esports, the online store, other methods.
They’ve been removing resources from wow for a long time. it hasn’t been at the wrath level in over a decade. In vanilla they were working with a population of about 500k.
You won’t get a wow back to its roots thing.
Infact if you remove m+ and rated PvP and flying from the game it’s essentially back to its roots. I don’t get what you find better about say vanilla?
I think what you like is being able to walk away and not be so far behind everyone else when you come back. And if that’s the way you play the game you’re not really playing it
Late 10.0 would be best as it implies more work being done on it.
Though, as sl has proven, more work is meaningless if the bulk of it is on a system nobody, NOBODY likes.
I’d bet it’s over at 9.2 … they’re understaffed and the board will be too busy cashing those checks to say otherwise.
Could you show me a link to an official announcement of that?

Every person who plays WoW pays a subscription. Even if the sub is paid by gold and a token, that token is still purchased by someone, so effectively it is a sub. And there is no way numerically that store purchases can match that. Those are voluntary and irregular. And esports is on the decline; they cut back their esport employees not long ago. To say the game population - and by extension, their subscriptions - don’t hugely matter is a bit inaccurate.
But on topic - until I see a posted official confirmation that there will be no third content patch, I will continue to believe there will be. In theory they could open the PTR to 9.2 after the release of the Mythic CoD raid - as early as September. If they give it a couple of months to test, 9.2 could in theory release prior to Christmas, say November. Certainly it would make Shadowlands a very long expansion if we then didn’t get a 9.3 for another 4 months, but its not impossible. It depends on how far along development on 9.3 already is.
While I agree that Shadowlands may be cut short, to say its definitely so without confirmation is inaccurate.
Pass the copium tank boiiii give me a huff of that good stuff.
