Large Undocumented Changes Should Not Happen

That just means they have crappy change documentation procedures. That is what that means. The size of the company doesn’t matter, it is the established processes that lead to success or failure in something like this.

Completely agree with this…

Because they aren’t… Or they don’t want to listen to us tell them they’re being silly.

okay, that’s fair. However, some staff stressed teams do things like tie some rough notes to their bug tracker to at least have some basic public facing notes for every change. There might be unintended consequences of a change that don’t get documented because they are unexpected interactions with the game as a whole, but I don’t feel like that’s the problem with most of these changes.

This speaks to the 3 factors that impact the scope of anything - Time, Cost, and Quality - another Project Management 101 pllar

Or maybe their real talent has, for the most part, moved on to better things.

Needing to go to wowhead to stay up to date on the patch notes or class changes is something I am not overly fond of. Its easily preventable and I feel like its kind of ridiculous to some extent. There really shouldn’t be any reason I need to go to fan sites in order to link a class, content, or profession change to another player in a discussion that I’m having on the site made by the company that hosts the game.

I don’t like how players are taken by surprise at some changes because they’re not browsing wowhead, youtube videos, or logging on to the actual PTR to familiarize themselves with the content beforehand.

Then finally, I don’t like reading comments like;

Because I know that it can be better than this.

The only true shill is the Orc (not sure if I’m allowed to mention names). The OP of this thread, the two NEs and the BE are all pretty good. Even the gnome has had a few criticisms of Blizz in the past.

I believe everything Neall said. Except one.
Ythisens doesnt want to communicate better, or really at all.
He has, repeatedly I believe, stated he isnt in Customer Relations when he’s very job is Customer Relationships/PR.

100% agree. I recall the comment you are talking about I just don’t have enough care to go fin d it and dig it up.

+1 for the OP.

This patch makes me confused. Seems like every time Blizzard says they are going to do a better job communicating with the player base, they actually do a worse job…

Also please tell the devs that I am not going to read their twitter posts or really anything they post on third party sites or social media. I should not have to bother.

Am I the orc? :joy:

If so, I won’t deny being a shill, I do love WoW and Blizzard and I’ll happily defend it when people are wrong. In this case though people are not wrong.

Ha. No you’re not.

Edit: should have said male Orc in my original post.

Honestly, I don’t think that’s it. I’d bet the farm that the scope of Ythisens job has changed (and increased dramatically) recently as part of the budget cuts and turnover the game is obviously experiencing.

EDIT: Fixed damn autocorrect, but also wanted to add that I agree with most everything else.

You know who the Orc is. We all do.

Yep, and with the changes being intentional gameplay altering changes … it really does seem that there is little to no communication between some parts of Blizzard.

That or these are changes that they didn’t intend to go live with 8.1 and were going to do it with M+ Season 2 went live … but that just means it’s another show of incompetence.

Even the MvPs are getting rather annoyed with this nonsense.

And it is nonsense don’t get me wrong its just it has to be a double decker amount of nonsense to get multiple MvPs in a thread expressing frustration.

Secondly how many hidden changes were there I admittedly have been all over the place I signed in once to check things out but I haven’t hit up any dungeons

Ive mentioned this but case in point.

The alchemy anchor weed changes didnt make it to live, and I cant find ANYTHING to explain why. I get they didnt do it but it was in the patch notes and now its reverted and I just want to ask WHAT the reason was?

The shill is metro.
And Bornakk is horrid. As was Celestalon, Zarhym and Bashiok.
