Hey there!
I’m wondering if this would be viable in M+? I kind of wanted to play around with it =)
Hey there!
I’m wondering if this would be viable in M+? I kind of wanted to play around with it =)
Well, the best you would do with it is buffing a dps in your group. You can try if its fun for you but i believe is lacking a lot comparing it with Adaptive swarm or convoke.
It’s absolutely viable as some of the highest keys resto has done have been as Kyrian. Necro is more popular because it isn’t reliant on your group. If you are pugging as Kyrian you may not have a good dps to bond with.
And to response to both of the previous posts @Hxzard and @Aronian
I’ve been playing kyrian druid for a while now it is indeed viable (Min/maxing or not) even if you don’t have anyone to link with, link with yourself and gain a increase in both mastery and a flat 15% healing done for 10 secs, instead of having to rely off a dps and their CD usage and having to follow Weak auras and add-ons cause if they aren’t putting out constant DPS it can be rough since they are going to be the key factor if you get a big healing/Damage pool.
It can be a little tricky when it comes to bonding with someone depending on the soulbind tree you take.i take Mikanikos tree for Mythic plus since I like to Catweave since the capstone trait only benefits melee range so I would advise you to link with someone who is melee orrrr again if you Catweave you can use it then and there and get it down to a 27 second CD there’s definitely a lot to play with here
For raiding I switch to Kleia since she’s more healz /Support based it’ll be difficult to use Mikanikos in raid just cause you won’t really benefit from the capstone as much
Sounds fair, I really don’t do many m+ as restoration so my point of view is more of PVP and Raid, having a 45sec healing boost sounds good since convoke can be sometimes unreliable.
Can you explain how the bond works when you link with a dps? I have a rough idea but not sure. I play necro and I’m nervous about losing all the healing from swarm. I want to try Kyrian though but I’m not sure how it works.
Let’s say you bond with a dps player. When you hit the ability to empower, do you build up the reservoir in those 10 seconds and THEN spend it afterward? How long do you have to spend it?
There’s like two parts if you link with a dps, So the DPS has have the activation time to do their burst window and dish out as much consistent DPS as possible for those 10 secs and build up the reservoir for the healer. The only iffy thing about it is the reservoir starts immediately dishing out healing and what not as soon as you click an ability Via if you moonfire Sunfire things or if you get hit by something it’ll use it for reduced damage to an extent, it doesn’t have main priority over anything so it’ll spread itself out between damage absorb/mitigation and healing so it gets used up preeeeety quickly
If you haven’t already used up the pool you’ll have and extra 10 secs to use the rest of the reservoir before it vanishes and waste what ever you didn’t use up.
So to maximize damage you would ideally have no hots up during this time as they would use up the reservoir as well correct?
Yes which is honestly hard to control… There have been situations where the DPS was pushing numbers out faster then I can use the reservoir up and sometimes was left with 100k extra spending points on whatever
Which is kinda why I normally just link with myself because it’s a flat 15% increase the whole time instead of having to rely of the Dps’s output
Raid I’d link with myself
Mythic it depends on if I want “Can” Catweave and DPS I’ll use the extra damage from the linked DPS.
You can use it on a tank and take reduced damage and replicate all healing, like a mini beacon if they are struggling but it’s normally not worth it
How do you know how much is built up and how much is used?
Also, you mentioned when you activate it the dps has 10 seconds to build up a reservoir for the healer, aren’t you also building up a reservoir for the dps you bond with? I was under the impression it goes both ways.
No that’s if you are a dps and you link with another DPS , but from a healers standpoint the only thing that happens is that 30% of the healing you output when you activate the empowerment is replicated onto the linked target, the player builds it up for you to use on whatever via healing or DPS or even shielding/Mitagtion
So to clearify it you yourself will always get some kinda resivour if you link with a Dps
-tank- and I link with a dps I get a resivour from them that I can use for extra healing DPS or DMG Mitagtion
-Dps- if I link with another DPS they will get 20% of the DMG i do replicated into their abilities as well I get the same from them, ontop of getting a resivour to use up.
-Healer- replicats 30% of all healing to do while linked as they give me a resivour for me to use for DMG healing and Mitagtion
You can see how much you have to spend by hovering over it or a weak aura to track the amount spent and Lost for you.
Details doesn’t show how much healing is done by it so if you’re wanting to see how much it’s down it’ll only show the healing you replicated onto your Linked target
Ah I see, so if I’m the healer and I link to a dps player, the only damage bonus that dps player gets is 1/2 the passive stat bonus that is doubled during empowerment right?
Yessss! That is correct ![]()
I tried Kyrian last night in several dungeons and it was fun. I didn’t try it anything higher than a 22 so my healing wasn’t really tested but the dps was higher than I expected. The stat passive and buff seemed more impactful than I expected. I was doing close to the same dps as necro, probably the same when you count the stat buff to the bonded partner.
One thing I’m worried about is getting in a group with all casters or the only melee being Kyrian. If that’s the case I may switch from mikanikos because you won’t get CD reduction because it radiates 10 yards from your bonded partner right? Maybe in that situation I’ll just switch to Kleia, get the extra crit and bond to the Nf lock or something.
I don’t think I’ll ever bond to myself because it adds no group damage and dps dmg is so high that I think it’s always worth it to give someone the stat buff.
There’s honestly plenty of possibilities with it which is why I enjoy using it I never tried NF nor really planned to?? But that’s besides the point.
I will link with a Dps in mythic if I know a melee is around, but if not then I normally just link with myself and when I Catweave I go in and activate it the ability pop out throw some healz and repeat
In raiding scenerio, I just link with myself, have that extra 15% flat healing instead of relying on a ramp up window especially if they die then you’re kinda screwed
