Horde win almost every game, even with a 12m queue you get about 1.5-2 levels per win. So questing while waiting is well worth it.
If you do it on merc mode its very fast to do then.
Leveled up 4, or 5 characters using the AV anniversary event. Had a lot of fun. Hopefully they will do a event like this every anniversary, and not wait every 5 years. Nice to have a quicker way to level on occasion besides doing the same boring world leveling quests they have not changed in close to 10 years now. Tbh I wish they would revert that dungeon xp nerf that they did with the 7.3.5 patch. Used to really enjoy leveling up friends, and guildies, and vice versa by power leveling them through dungeons.
Shameless thread plugs:
and then my suggestion for keeping it around:
I believe so! I leveled a few on each side, and the last one I want to do is a Death Knight, but have to start it new and I’m waiting for Allied races which will be too late. All good though. I got value from it!
Thanks for the heads up.
I think I only leveled a single alt from scratch.
Because its still painful to level from 1 to 60 (or 20 to 60 if an allied race) for me lol
And I also need time to farm old content (tons of raids I need to go through for mounts and mogs. and then multiply that by 10+ alts. not really enough time to level a toon from scratch even with Korraks revenge )
But I’m going to level my other alts which are camped at 110, because 110 to 120 can be done with a breeze.
To bad the xp you get sucks, if you are not at least level 100, or above. Pretty much worthless event, if you are under those level ranges imo.
Even on my Ally toon which I leveled from 70-120 through AV I was still gaining at least one level per game and that’s with >95% losing ratio. These games averaged about 20 minutes and had about a 2-3 minute queue.
Was just going by from the toons I leveled from 100, and up, and the few ones I tried the event at level ranges from 20 to around 45. At those ranges you barely get 3 bars, if that win, or lose.
It’s only with doing after you hit level 60.
I leveled 3 alli so far to 120 and am working on my alli hunter now, she was at 71 now is 83.
I think I’ll make it but I also wanted to level my horde priest. Not sure if it’ll happen in time.
I love this avenue of leveling though. Good job, Blizzard. It’s way more fun than questing but then I’ve been here awhile.
To put it in perspective: Each minute you get a tick of XP based on your level.
It takes about 50 minutes worth of ticks per level to go from 100-110.
It takes about 47 minutes worth of ticks per level to go from 110-120.
(These values assume absolutely zero xp bonuses, so divide those minutes by (1+[<% XP bonus>/100]) to find the correct time)
Additionally, you get bonus XP ticks for the following:
Destroy/Save towers: 2 minutes worth per tower
Save/Kill Lieutenant: 3 minutes worth each
Lose KR: 10 minutes
Win KR: 20 minutes
(Note: Saved tower/lieutenant XP is rewarded after KR ends)
With that in mind, in the absolute best case scenario, you get 42 minutes worth of XP ticks when KR ends.
In the absolute worst case scenario, you get 10 minutes worth of XP ticks.
(More realistically, those values are 39 minutes and 13 minutes, respectively, since I very very rarely see Balinda or Galvingar die)
If the games are blowouts in horde’s favor (as in, all horde towers saved, all alliance towers burned), it’s better to queue alliance if horde queue times rise above 26 minutes.
If the games are close (as in, all towers, horde and alliance burned), it’s better to queue alliance if horde queue times rise above 10 minutes.
I honestly didn’t think I’d get any alts to 120 as I pretty much stopped playing retail, but I’ve been casually playing AV on them while doing other things on my second monitor. Got quite a few to 120 already.
Just for perspective/feedback, this almost NEVER happens.
By the time we take SPGY and begin burning N/S Bunkers, there are always going to be 5-6 Alli players that just give up. They’ll run South and cap at least one Tower, if not both, because… why not? The end is inevitable at that point. And while we might have some players on D in our base to prevent stealthies who feel the need to try and flip East/West Towers (a boring waste of time if you don’t have offense to back it up), they won’t advance to take Towers back, it’s not worth the effort.
And because the win is only ~2mins away, no one from Horde really cares about getting them back.
Really the only reason for us to try and keep the Towers is for an Achv, and that Achv is currently broken. So… there is absolutely NO reason for us to bother with them once the N/S Bunkers have been flipped.
I’ve played 88 games so far now, and we’ve kept both Towers a total of THREE times. I know, because I’ve submitted 3 tickets and 3 bug reports, pissed off out of my mind that the Achv is broken and Blizzard is doing nothing about it. >(
If my team gives up I’m still going to run for the towers because burning them is XP.
Sorry not sorry.
That’s an obvious, VALID reason. Don’t even need the “not sorry” part.
Except that I’m talking about that 120 bracket. No one’s getting xp. I’m doing this for the “win AV 100 times” Achv. Burning Towers for xp is meaningless.
I honestly think its not too hard to believe blizzard may implement it into the brawl rotation system just like they did after last years anniversary and the hillsbrad battleground
What makes me think that is of cause blizzard doesn’t want to take away time from the normal av (aka Not making It never be played again) now would i wish for it to jus be a permanent thing? yes but those are some of the factors that need to be taken into consideration
I sort of wish all the bgs worked like Korrak’s : / gonna miss it : /
I like the scaled gear and good xp. Makes it easier to get into not having to worry much about gear.
I’m going to miss it when it’s gone…
… because it’s been great, no only for leveling, but also as an incentive to get into PVP
