Knockbacks. The laziest mechanic ever?

Aback.Cough Wheez

I remember that one dog boss in UBRS or LBRS can’t remember now that when you first pulled it punted someone so we’d always send a gnome it first because it was funny.

I love knockbacks. They give you a chance to get an extra Charge in to close the gap instantly. Plus, it’s fun to leave a trail of fire through the air. And they let you break Newton’s laws of motion, specifically the law of inertia and action / reaction.

Call me when you’re playing an Arms warrior and start to use Demolish only to be knocked away and just watch it go on cooldown. BTW did I mention Demolish says your immune to knockbacks but guess what surprise it’s like a good 70% of the time you get pushed away regardless.

Can’t Death Knights immune knockbacks too? They pop an ability then stand there and laugh.

They can but not every knockback seems to be the same as some times your immune and some times you go flying. But your right rushing back with warrior is alot of fun. I’m just sad my Demolish is now on cooldown.

Warrior loves knockbacks, free rage lol.

The issue is overlapping mechanics with knockback, plus using an ability to counter the knockback, can literally lead to flying off a map/through floors and/or walls.

Example is phase 2 queen knockback into charge but same time queen pull in goes off…you end up actually flying off the platform in the opposite direction of the queen, or right to queen, depending on which way the knockback was.

Yes, knockbacks are lazy AF and not creative at all. They’re generally just put there as yet another way to kill players who would be otherwise safe.

In pvp they are probably the worst thing ever because they act as a mini stun, interrupt, and in world pvp/Battlegrounds, a free kill against many classes.

Knockbacks are a legit game mechanic.
stop crying like a child.

Bruh there are mobs and things that fear every few seconds if you’re unlucky, stop lying.

Knockback is a real mechanic seen in many games.
Now stop crying.

Yes.
that is the point of the mechanic, as with ALL mechanics.
Glad you FINALLY figured that out.
mechanics exist to screw you sideways.

I always refer my friends to playing a dracthyr if they don’t want to deal with knockbacks.

Especially priests. I can barely fathom dealing with priests lack of mobility, but a lack of mobility without something to deal with knockbacks sounds like a wretched way to live.

Literally have to rescue them across the room on Mythic Rasha’nan because they’re so slow.

This seems like an exaggeration

Did you not read their post?

Worse than daze?

Play Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden, then come back here with how you feel about knockbacks.

On topic, I don’t think they’re that common in PvE? For those that exist there are tools to counter them: Instant cast and abilities that let you attack/cast while moving are not affected. In MM’s case, that’s Rapid Fire, Locked and Loaded procs and Arcane/Multi Shot.

I guess also Barrage, if you’re memeing it up.

Sure your damage/healing may be impacted a bit, but there are tools to lessen or completely remove the harm done.

What’s knocking you back?

Blizz is so lazy healers have to heal things, blizz is so lazy bosses require you to do damage to them to beat them, blizz is so lazy gear comes off raid bosses. Blizz is so lazy that us playing wow is a thing.

Thats what you sound like.
Just because a basic mechanic exists doesnt mean lazy. Like even in tank swaos they have unque thing such as on swap tank gets a swirly they have to run away with, or they have yo defend against a big hit thay bursts damage to the raid etc.

I don’t care either way, I am fine with it. But I have noticed it more this expac.

You know, I have noticed that there are a lot of similar mechanics. Not necessarily purely knock backs.

Maybe because they added Evokers last expac and recently opened up Dracthyr to other classes? So they wanted to display it more?

I mean, take Queen Ansurek. Getting knocked back/up are actual mechanics you need to do to progress through the fight at certain points.

The Council fight has the Skeinspinner knock backs - if you get hit by her pie slice, and if you fail to interrupt her cast with dispels.

But you really notice it on Siren’s Isle. Those mini bosses in the caves knock you back like every 5 seconds or so.

Most games I’ve played in my life don’t have knockback mechanics. Knockdown, yes, but those are 2 very different things.
