Completing them, killing xavius, and then eventually killing guldan in nighthold were mandatory for three different things, one being completing insurrection, the main storyline in suramar. It’s identical to the current war campaign, down to how the second half of it isn’t coming out until a later patch.
They were also mandatory for the balance of power chain, and were what started the 7.2 amanthul chain in tomb, but they weren’t actually “required” by the player only by the lore.
I can’t believe how many people are trying to justify not wanting to do a single dungeon once. This is getting laughable honestly.
I’m not trying to “justify” not doing a single dungeon. I’m saying that the comparison to Suramar is not “justified”.
Xavius was required to complete Insurection, yes. One, single boss wing of LFR (hardly even a dungeon if you ask me) but it was queue-able. Not that people didn’t still complain.
Gul’dan was required for “Balance of Power”, which absolutely was not part of the main story line. It was a “side story” to unlock one of the Artifact mog sets. Completely optional and not part of the main story line.
After completing Insurrection, two additional quests in Nighthold (one to kill Gul’dan, one to kill Trilliax and Elisande). These quests were not part of the main story, they were followups with little reward (a grey item to sell, some AP, and a 30 min rez buff). Also totally not related to the main story.
Arcway and Court of Stars were unlocked as part of the Insurrection story line, but actually running them wasn’t necessary. Both “into the” quests tat were picked up after unlocking them were completely optional.
I agree with you that complaining about running a single dungeon is stupid, but at least get your information right before claiming things are required when they clearly never were. MVPs spreading misinformation should never happen.
It was required to see the story… Which is what people are complaining about with this 1 dungeon. Both dungeons were also required to continue the Suramar story and get the achievement “Good Suramaritan.”
That isn’t what’s happening. They’re bemoaning the lack of choice in difficulty, and the lack of ability to queue for the dungeon. Some have outright said they’d already have done it if it were available to do that way.
I’ll get around to it; I have a tank sitting at 350, but I don’t feel like pugging and have been waiting on some of my friends to get up to the same point. I’ve done plenty of mythic+ in Legion and a 0 doesn’t faze me. But that’s just me. I’m not just thinking about me - crazy idea, I know.
No matter how easy you say it is, or how easy it actually is, I guarantee you that there’ll always be a portion of the population that doesn’t want to do Mythic content for whatever reason, especially not for the storyline. The question becomes, would you rather Blizz allowed lower difficulties for people who want them (which impacts your ability to do Mythics in no way), or do you want to keep coming back here defending the current state when they do it the next time, and the next, and tell everyone how right you are? You could just be running all the Mythics your little heart desires and they could slap through it on normal and be done with it.
The only thing laughable here is the dismissive arrogance of the haves.
Good Sumaritan did not require the completion of either dungeon.
Completing them was not part of the main storyline. After finishing the storyline, which required ATTUNEMENT only, you got 2 optional quests to actually complete the dungeons. Unlocking and completing are not the same thing.
Also… Long before there was any such thing as LFR/LFD/Dungeon Finder there were actual zone story quests that took you into non-queue-able dungeons. This is not new to the game and everything does not need to be queue-able.
Additionally… They’ve (Blizz) has already said that the current M-only dungeons will be available as Heroics at some point. If you don’t want to do a M0, or anything out of the queue systems, you can wait for that.
If people need an automated system to put them into a group then they didn’t want to do the dungeon in the first place. Not having a queue isn’t a game breaker when over 50% of the playerbase has completed the dungeon
“Don’t pull the cat’s tail.”
“Why?”
“He doesn’t like it.”
“Why?”
“Because it hurts.”
“Why?”
Just repeating “go do it” isn’t addressing the reasons they aren’t doing it. Even the points actually made about how to go about doing it, aren’t addressing the reasons they aren’t doing it. They know how, they don’t want to jump through those needlessly annoying hoops.
Then they don’t want to do the dungeon. Can’t be bothered to hit 2-5 buttons to get into a group for the dungeon? Then you don’t get to do it.
This is about players being lazy. The Group Finder is not a hard tool to use. There are no legit issues. Over 50% of the players have done the 2 dungeons. 20% more have done the other dungeons on Mythic as well.
This problem isn’t with the game, it’s with the player.
They aren’t saying the Group Finder tool is hard to use, they’re saying it’s annoying, and inconvenient.
Beyond this, there are legit issues: age and reaction time, possibly disabilities. Not everyone is 22 and in perfect health.
You keep referencing the 50%, so think about it like this: I own a pizzeria, we’ll say. I run some numbers and find out that 50% of my customers just get pepperoni. I might cut back on ordering olives, but I don’t stop ordering olives, or peppers, or sausage. If I do I effectively cut my own business in half.
A glass that is half-full, is also half-empty.
People want to see the conclusion of the storyline that they started with solo questing. It’s not about phat lewtz, or welfare epics, so I see no reason the dungeons aren’t offered on all difficulty levels from the get-go.
I guess the idea is that they wanted the dungeons to be locked behind the quest line and be the culmination of the story. Having said that, they could’ve just put them in the heroic queue but require an achievement to unlock their use.
If your argument is put the dungeon in on multiple difficulties, I can get on board. If your argument is, put M0 in the queue because the Group Finder tool is annoying and inconvenient… No. Stop being lazy.
This thread sure has been going on for a long time.
That said, it is important to note that Heroic versions of Kings’ Rest and Siege of Boralus do not appear to be coming in 8.1. At the absolute earliest the Heroic versions might come in 8.1.5 when that arrives in early 2019.
This is just a fair bit of warning before people start getting the idea that the Heroic versions are coming in the next patch.
