Killing Spree now causes disconnects

Experienced this today, and yesterday during raid and outdoor content. Killing Spree (when it works and doesn’t just go on cooldown doing nothing), sometimes just logs me out, and forces me to restart the client due to login errors. Inside things like delves and solo dungeons, this can reset the instance to the start.

What kind of demon possessed this class and spec? I’ve never seen an entire class get so absolutely dunked on with bugs that can render all three specs unreliable for so long before, and this is on top of bugs I’ve been experiencing (specifically with outlaw) since the pre-patch in Dragonflight.

I want to continue loving Outlaw, it’s by far my favorite class. But this is a disgusting amount of negligence. Can someone just comfort me? Maybe tell me a lie to make me feel better.

There is no comfort here. You will enjoy clipping into geometry using Killing Spree, and potentially falling through the map and/or disconnecting when you teleport onto or through a multitude of visual effects that causes your system to ‘burp’ in disgust.

There is only pain. And Crack(shots).

only when the target is in water, and you start it from land. The different terrains are what causes the disconnects. My experience at least.

I disconnected in the open world where there was no water, but my last frame of reference was I was floating off the ground before I disconnected, so I’m guessing a mystery slope or geometry got me. In raid it was around second boss (killing spree on the boss itself works fine, but the adds is a risk)

These forums need a laugh and a cry react so that I could use both at the same time.

adding my rage.

so many times over the years have i been disconnected from falling through the world because shadowstep placed me few pixels too low.
the disconnects are a mercy.
the alternative is actually falling for a while before dying and ressing at some random graveyard- like westfall.

I’ve actually had issues DCing because sometimes my flying mount clips through rocks. I can imagine KS is clipping you into terrain in a similar way and the Wardens are disconnecting you.

If there is a hole in the world geometry you will fall through it and disconnect.

This is an old bug.

We’re totally getting everything fixed next patch, don’t worry.

I’m sorry, I can’t even pretend like that’s true. I’m just hoping that the changes in 11.0.5 don’t break more talents in the tree.

Them messing with BTE functionality has me ridiculously concerned about the ability becoming broken beyond use for a while, since they’ve made everything function worse every time they’ve changed something since PTR cycle started.

I just do not think they are competent enough to fix the issues with the class anymore. Crackshot has been buggy since its introduction, BTE has had this bug on-and-off for over a decade now, they gave us a broken Conduit as a talent that has literally never once provided the proper healing/upkept healing during the duration, and it’s been 7 years now.

Also, subterfuge ticks down ADR if it’s up when you re-stealth. And other classes buffing you while stealthed also can cause a loss of a few seconds of ADR. And friendly auras/enemy AoE heals can break stealth from 100+ yards away (worms in MoTS).

No other class has this many bugs to deal with. And Mage/Pally saw bug fixes basically constantly for 3 weeks. Yet, we can’t get a bug fixed that actually impacts gameplay in PVP and causes stupid deaths in PVE to de-stealthing out of our control. Seems fair. Totally.

Oh, also, more on topic. Killing spree can cause a disconnect if you touch water during a hit of the animation, but start on solid ground. I’ve had that happen 3 times this last week. Love that.

It’s not just killing spree. Any ability which involves automatic movement of the character (teleports, blinks, shadowsteps, killingsprees) etc all can cause it.

AFAIK, and it’s not much, it’s caused by the client and server disagreeing about where your character should be. So it just dc’s. I have this happen all the time using shadow step in certain BGs.

In EoTS the other night I got knocked off mid fight, stepped right away, and got caught in an infinite DC loop until the game ended. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The disconnect is not a bug. It’s a feature for a longer rear end scratch.

I was gonna mention how I’ve had this happen with ShS because it caused me to clip into the game’s geometry. I’ve even had it happen with my Warrior with Charge and Heroic Leap.

When Shadowstep first came out I was in the Outlands questing near Hellfire Citadel when I used it and DC’d. After several attempts to log in I finally succeeded and found my character at the bottom of the lake around Scholomance.

Something similar would happen two more times resulting in a trip to Mount Hyjal (not even an available zone at this time) and a trip to the bottom of the lake in Silverpine near Fenris Isle.

Doesn’t happen anymore. Now you just DC. Honestly a downgrade. If I’m gonna clip thru reality at least let me pop up in random places like I went on an extra dimensional bender and woke up with no memory of what happened.

The first day I played The War Within, doing the quest where you free the giant from being stuck in a pond, I shadowstepped to him and it placed me in the void in some water. It logged me out, and logging back in kept me suspended there. It took a day to fish out my character through the unstuck service (because the service was, understandably, bogged down for day 1 full release)

I kind of miss when shadowstep in BG’s sometimes caused me to leave a BG and end up in the barrens graveyard with the deserter debuff. It’s kind of just funny at that point but man. People who play rogues in competitive scenes are patient as heck.
