Killing realms on purpose for money

This post is obvious nonsense, written by someone who has NO CLUE about how multi-million-dollar corporations make income.

Vanilla WoW was the BEST MMO in the history of MMOs. It went from nothing to 12 million players in a few years. Nobody EVER did that, before or since.

And I am supposed to believe that Blizzard cares NOTHING about that, and cares more about realm transfer fees? Utter and complete nonsense.

Why does anyone choose to do that? It’s a complete mystery to me. Please explain how Blizzard caused this to happen.

Transfer fees buy yachts. They buy NFL franchises!!

Actually they don’t. I think the fee, if I recall, was meant to be punitive to discourage people from leaving their communities. I don’t think it was said outright, but very clearly implied if I recall.

flat earther

nah this isnt tin foil hat stuff. it is entirely possible the vampires at bliztivision are trying everything to extract as much cash as they can from an ageing game.

The same could be said about Blizzard’s (arguably) flagship game which put them on the radar for many players: Warcraft 3.

I’m sure there are individuals who care about the quality of their product. However, after the recent release of Warcraft 3: Refunded, I have no faith with this company. To think a triple A company could re-release a 15 y/o game and make it significantly worse (at launch) is appalling.

I don’t think there is malice in anything they are doing across any platform. There is, however, negligence.

They probably won’t look at what they didn’t do for Earthfury. The only real solution at this point would be to send everyone back and throw layers and locks on incend.

when classic first came out they were sabotaging it. now it is too big and popular so they cannot kill it, instead they can make it as bad as possible so they can point to retail as a better alternative. unfortunately noone with over 60iq wants to play retail so the salty retail developers who have to maintain classic because no one wants to play their trash new game they just make it as bad as possible.

The problem with this is essentially the problem with all ‘small’ business that get gobbled up to become ‘better’. The group that made that game was ultimately gaming experience focused and made a lot of decisions on the basis of creating a better product. This makes the company successful and profitable because they have a customer base that enjoys what they distribute to the community.

Inevitably a much larger company comes around that sees this and decides if they invest their money and resources into said small company, they can REALLY make that company profitable. The problem with this is it usually done for reasons that accommodate excel spreadsheet cells a lot better than the customer base and the business model becomes more about number juggling and squeezing water from a stone than servicing the customers because the parent group is run by people who really don’t understand what made the original company successful.

You have people looking at said spreadsheets who are more focused on how to get as much water from that stone in the next quarter than what the health of the game looks like 18-24 months from now. They will always say they care about the latter and to a degree this is true. Long term decision making typically gets cannibalized for short term gain though because a lot of stupid decisions get made when money is involved.

Blizzard is a multi billion dollar company, they know how to make money.

Yes, because they’re a company, and money is all they care for, and their intentional ruining of realm balance is making them a fortune on xfers.

How on earth can you be this naive to think Blizz cares about anything other than money?

Well, you weren’t wrong about that. :smirk:

Did it not clue you in that they’re a soulless corporation when they made bank off WCIII Refunded, after advertising they’d redo all the cutscenes to be far more cinematic, even using an example of the famous Arthas Strat arrival to hype people up.

And then didn’t, because as one of the wealthiest gaming companies in the world it was apparently beyond them to actually do something they just proved they could easily do?

Or how about when they banned someone for promoting freedom from a tyrannical dictatorship, and fired the people who spoke to him?

Yes, such a benevolent company, no chance they’d ever do things just to make money.

They’re one of the smartest companies in the world when it comes to making money- and they have no scruples, just think about what they did with reducing RNG in Destiny 2 in order to boost real money sales.

i dont think they are doing it to purposely force paid transfers. I do think they dont want to invest resources in developing a solution to prevent situations like Incendius from happening again.

I have been on Incendius from the first minute it launched. It was the best NA server population wise for a while (balanced factions) and blizz nuked it.

Its not to buy transfers, you silly goose. They’re killing the servers so we can all resurrect in SHADOWLANDS!

No, seriously, I think thats what they’re doing.

Isn’t this post about FREE transfers?

You can’t seriously be asking how it’s Blizzard’s fault that they allow a feature to exist, right? Right?

Do you even play on Incendius? Do you have any idea what you’re talking about? Blizzard killed Incendius - playing on a 85/15 is not fun.

I sure do not!

It looks like the opening of free transfers that Incendius had access to, while experiencing high queue times was exactly the same access that was given to Faerlina and Whitemane.

Are there still queue times?

Yeah, that sucks, if it is your current situation, and doesn’t match your preferences.

There is no way to justify arguing with you on a topic you know nothing about. You are speaking from a place of ignorance, and so we have nothing to discuss.

It’s your choice, and your prerogative to voice your opinions how you see fit.

I am an individual with my own ideas and perspectives. Whether you appreciate them or not is also your prerogative. Thank you for sharing your point of view.
