I remember plenty of MC and Onyxia attempts where we didn’t even have 40 people, for God’s sake lol. Lots of selective memory among a lot of people.

Just wait til Phase 2 and folks start grinding for PvP, then the POM-Pyro 1-shots and Rogue QQing will overtake the boards.
Then we’ll get BWL and people will once again, have very very peculiar “memories” of various things. I can’t wait for the LOS strategies for the drakes to be treated like some “exploit” or “bug”

You don’t need at least 20 percent (whatever the hell it was) fire resist now? You don’t have to run Mauradon 80 times for the trinket of fire resist anymore?
If you’re playing Classic to have a challenging raiding experience, you’re doing it wrong.

I hope they overtune Chromaggus to kill everybody to replicate the time when he was unkillable. That’s true vanilla!

You never did. There is a mob you can Mind Control to give your whole raid fire resist. He was always there, most people just didn’t know about it.
Again, people are better now. That’s the reason.

let’s be honest with ourselves. most raids were technically done with less than 40 people because at least ten people were afk at any given time

Some groups I was in knew about this later in classic, but raid leaders still insisted on 300+ fire resist or something silly like that.

it’s amazing how few people seem to know about this even to this day. you don’t need to farm fire resist gear for MC.

Well most of us dirty casuals with jobs and families are not level 60 yet. Most of those that are, and have already cleared MC are the hardcore players with years of pvt server experience. I think its too soon to jump to conclusions.
Lets check back in 2-3 months or so. Then we will see.

The raid I was in, and this was like after AQ had launched, STILL insisted even ranged DPS still have 200+ fire resist for MC, and I think it was higher for BWL. This alone fundamentally cuts out huge chunks of your rDPS. And this was a ‘top’ guild.
Players are just better now. People really need to accept that.

Uh, why should they know? Anyone who never raided in vanilla and also never played on a private server would have never attempted molten core when it was a problem. Anyone in a clownsuit from hellfire peninsula would have outgeared the raid. Thus, all people knew was what they heard, what they heard was that fire resist was mandatory, and there was no good reason to question that.
WoW has always been an easy game.
It rewards commitment, not challenge.
Look at youtube. Use the date tool. Search in 2004-2006. You will find numerous rag kills that are mind numbing easy, straightforward and fast.

I don’t know. I’m still going to play Classic regardless, but I prefer the original difficulty. I remember being on the edge of my seat for the entire dungeon.
