The problem is, everyone else is doing the Kill Hydra quest and Carp in that area at the same time. Last night there were almost no Carp there because it’s the only decent place to farm them. Even the Hydra were hard to farm and we were demolishing them as soon as they spawned, but at least those we can share kills.

Just go to the Ashen Strand. They are all over that place.

When I was there, everyone was pulling them to a central point and we all just spammed AoE to clear them as fast as they could spawn.

Same with those floating mind-flayer things in the cave up north for that quest.

I kicked a carp last night.
It landed in the water, but it was near a waterfall so it somehow did not count.
I kicked the carp again.
It landed on the side of a cliff in an unkickable location.
I’m still annoyed at 11am the next day.

A Horde member and I ‘griefed’ each other over the same fish. Rude emotes exchanging between the two of us were blazing. Then a glare when i lost.

Yeah that Bounty is a pain, but i had a fun experience with it, so eh.

Mmm, that point when you realize that there are not enough carp on the island to make a fish sandwich, let alone kick 10 of them back into the water…

Nazjatar and Mechagon irritate me so much that I decided to log into Secret World Legends last night for the first time in who knows how long, and immediately started enjoying myself just due to the peace and quiet. No poorly designed dailies, no hard to navigate zones, no quest areas overly packed with aggroing mobs. Just nice stories, open spaces, and a few mobs to kill as I do stories.

I’m starting to think that while I wait for Classic to come out, I’ll just do my WQs and whatever dailies are easy in Nazjatar/Mechagon, and then logout to do some Secret World.

Thanks Blizz. 8.2 is designed so badly that you’ve driven me to old, dead games that are somehow fun in comparison.

Truth - the design of the zone along with the quests and objectives plus the HP levels of mobs are all obvious time sinks.

I know time sinks are a basic part of game design, but I’ve rarely seen them used so blatantly obvious in WoW as with the 8.2 content.

Time sinks are fine if they are engaging/fun and there is a decent reward at the end of it.

Pathfinder/unlocking flying is neither of the 2 above. I dont complain about pathfinder because I have always completed all the quests in the zones and enjoy exploring so it comes naturally.

These zones however appear to be purposefully designed as a time-sink for all the wrong reasons:

  1. Level scaling - pointless and greater time sink

  2. excessive trash to achieve some element of Classic game play- pointless and unnecessary time sink

  3. spread out daily quests surrounded by excessive trash - pointless and unnecessary time-sink

  4. low respawn rates when realms/servers are sharded together - poor design and unnecessary time sink

  5. locking pathfinder behind a daily rep cap - again poor design and unnecessary time sink.

Seeing a pattern here. Just because something requires more keystrokes and timed played does not a) make it challenging or b) entertaining.

The dev team needs to do some serious self reflection here.

I found this quest to be annoying too, and I’m a rogue that stealths everywhere. I had to get 10, there where so many people after the same thing. Increase spawn rates, and locations or knock it down to 5 again.

5 seems reasonable.

I stubbed my toe kicking that damn fish. I started stomping on them instead. Makes it more fun :rofl:

I’m not one to believe the conspiracies of time played metrics and such. But this quest had me thinking :thinking:.

Im betting all of these 2 zones are designed to make people think getting flying is not worth the effort, so next expac they can say “see. no one got it last time, they obviously don’t really want flying in wow.”

These quests were made by someone with a lot of spite towards players. Like, a lot.

I can respect that.

I havent done this quest once yet cause its fckin retarded and a waste of time.
