There is always a reason
One of the problems is people can type in racial slurs and inappropriate language in the kick box. And they can get away with it cause it can’t be reported on for violation of code of conduct. At this time people can type in hate crimes in it and get away with it.

Yeah, well, there are people who love to waste others time. The original intent of the deserter was to deter people away from leaving the dungeon so the dungeon can get done. But when people realized you could get kicked and not have the deserter buff back in Wrath, that is when problems started happening and people started with waisting people’s time. In otherwords, exploiting the queuing system in order to get around the deserter buff. That is why it was added to the vote-kick as well.
There is 2 ideas that could cause the same or more problems:
Remove the deserter buff for being kicked from the dungeon, and watch the same thing unfold with people exploiting the queue system
Or
Remove the deserter buff all together and watch dungeons never get done at all.

Correction: You can invite anyone, and yes, even restrict certain players or servers or regions from your group, but you can not publically say it or list it.

The game asks you to enter a reason for the kick
Meanwhile, the person being kicked doesn’t get to see the reason. Also, if the party initiates a vote-kick… you would hope they already tried to chat with the problematic player
A lot of times, when I do something wrong or not so good… either somebody will tell me, or I’ll notice and I’ll just chat with the party. Lack of communication can be bad. And when people don’t talk, then the vote-kick gets used more
Communication would go a long way with making the entire community better
Communication would go in helping somethings, but at the same time, communication can’t solve every problem either.
We could be empathetic to the weaker player, who is obviously struggling. Okay so this run isn’t gonna be so fast. Let’s just offer some advice to the player and keep it moving. No kick
I think the easy kick is a player who is being verbally abusive to people. Okay that’s hard to ignore. Especially when there’s still like 2-3 bosses left to kill
May be a dumb reason but still a valid kick. Even then how many times does that actually happen? And be real with us here. I’ve seen it once in 10 years.
Though if you saw that abomination of a transmog you would’ve kicked him too. /sarcasm
And where is your evidence that someone is doing it purely to troll?
If you’re performing at a sub par level, that’s a valid reason to be kicked. Gameplay sabotage is a person that just hit max level in quest greens expecting to be carried in content.
If someone is being racist in the form, grab a screenshot and report that as that IS actionable.
Otherwise what if the group didn’t want to put a reason instead of arguing about it but just wanted the person gone? Then what is a GM supposed to do? Are they supposed to just automatically assume the kick was bad an action the other 4 people in there? Also what exactly do you want them to do far as recourse for the kicked person? Because you’re basically arguing for blizzard to play mommy and daddy to groups and telling them “let your little brother play with you or else.”
I may not be a blizzard dev, but I do have over 20 years experience creating things for other games and I can tell you right now simply filling out a kick form wouldn’t show me anything about whether it was legitimate or not. It’s the same concept as people who sometimes report bugs to me with something I made and say “it’s broke fix it.” Okay, what’s broke and what are you wanting me to fix? I will reach out to the person to get more details and it’s like pulling teeth to get anything out of those people at times. They give a bunch of useless info I never asked for and don’t answer the questions I asked more often than not. You saying that form tells the dev/GM if it’s legit or not is objectively wrong and is like those people wanting tech support for something I created and saying “it’s broke fix it.”
And do tell us dude, how do you “know” there is alot of bogus kicks made this expansion alone? How are you tracking it? What metric are you using to determine if the kick was good or bad? What kind of documentation are you using? If you’re seeing it as often as you want us to believe, why not document some of it and post it somewhere that can be viewed?
As Sendryn pointed out, others asked for sanctions even if you specifically may not have. Now I’m going to ask, if you’re not asking for sanctions, what exactly do you want the GMs to do if you were able to appeal the kick? Do you want to be placed back in the group? Do you want them to have their ability to kick taken from them for awhile? Do you expect them to just mail you a piece of gear from the boss? As I said to you elsewhere, the penalty is there for a reason. More on that in a minute.
So you want random level rewards without actually doing random dungeons, got it. You already have the ability to blacklist as is, queue for specific dungeons only.
As for holding groups hostage, yes I agree it’s a major time waster that benefits no one, but people absolutely did it, which is why the penalty for being kicked exists to start with. People would hold groups hostage as a tank or healer and refuse to move, or DPS would try to wipe the group because “I’m not doing Oculus so kick me.” They would do this to bypass the dungeon cooldown and they would keep this up until they got a dungeon they liked.
What you’re refusing to see is that yes there are people out there who are jerkish enough to do something like that. You’re so caught up on “kick penalty bad” that you fail to see why it exists. Let’s be real, no one likes to be on the receiving end of it. You don’t like it, I don’t like it, no one does. However there are reasons it exists and times it’s absolutely deserved. When my net dipped on my warrior around a month and a half ago, I got booted for being DCed. sucked but is what it is. Kick system is fine the way it is. If folks want to present actual evidence of so called kick abuse and people doing it for the lulz, then I might be willing to take these complaints seriously.
I vote kicked a crappy healer who was only fighting and queued as healer but was in feral the whole time fighting so yeah I feel it’s justified after we wiped 15 times on the first mob in dire mual with hydrospawn
They need to remove the deserter debuff, it’s toxic.
Or do what I do and just don’t click it until the little box goes away lol.
