All programming is logic majors. Describe what you actually want.

Programming is essentially the direct use of language as a tool.

It requires precise input to get precise output.

We may not be “English majors” but we do tend to be literalists with regards to the use of the language.

“Why” and “How” are two completely different questions and have two completely different answers.

If that seems pedantic, consider going to your bank’s website and asking for your balance and getting instead a statement that you had made 47 online purchases, written 6 checks, had 1 service charge, and that your last statement had gone out 2 days before.

I’ve had lengthy discussions with developers here, sometimes bordering on arguments, about the precise use of language on their part.

It’s not always reasonable to expect a layman to be precise in asking us questions, but when a question is answered as asked and the answer is rejected as being wrong essentially because the question was asked incorrectly smiley emote aside, getting even mildly snarky with the folks answering your questions is wildly inappropriate.
