“Kek” is for racism?

i blame the media for being selfish and pushing there own agenda these days…
they probably push it too far than what is expected.

Women would still not have the vote if men had not decided the denial of suffrage to women was offensive and fought for something that did not affect them.

Sure women fought for this right, and some brave ones suffered terribly in the fight to win the vote, but it took the co-operation of men to effect this change.

Conversely, Hitler and co were able to get away with terrible crimes in their attempts to wipe out the handicapped, dissidents, gays and Jews.

Not only did their fellow Germans, including old friends, turn their backs and ignore what was happening, as it didn’t directly concern them, but many leaders in America and England were pleased to hear of it. Thus one of the most shameful periods of history was enacted.

As John Stuart Mill said way back in 1867: “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.”

There’s a REALLY fitting irony with this question considering the thread its in…

Anywho, best guess? Fantasy. Being one of the few that are woke enough to see the world for what it really is, that’s basically the intro to The Matrix. Feeling special, smarter, more intuitive etc. Maybe even as aspect of “belonging” in the FE Society.

As far as a justification for the conspiracy itself, probably some kind of generic thought control and submission stuff.

This is all just a guess, the only former member I know is Hawkens. I was never on the inside like him

considering the media lies about everything…they kind of justify the existence of the flat earther society in a way.

i mean…aren’t they kind of providing support to the notion of all establishment entities lying to you about everything.

also people like to use the whole flat earther thing as kind of a red herring. like if you don’t agree with a clearly false mainstream media narrative about something you are a flat earther.

even if there is absolutely no truth to that narrative

Plz dont tell me you compared the suffrage movement to a 4chan meme…

Ya, but i’m smart enough to know that i can either ask a scientist or someone who studied things related to our world.

I’ma believe them over a guy/girl that does no research.

ok but authoritarian governments like 1942 germany also don’t like free speech or other human rights.

so it’s not exactly a good argument for doing away with them.

especially on such a frivolous context as we see here

i mean true…but that’s also why i do my own research instead of believing media narratives about things like internet culture.

because a lot of times the media is not that much different than the flat earther society in terms of their relationship to truth sadly

Pretty much “his” first act after being named chancellor was to implement restrictions on speech and expression. Let that sink in when you hear cries from the woke about censorship, hate speech laws, etc.

True.
but in general, a life lesson is to be told and that is…
“Take Everything with a grain of salt”

“and your doctor will put you on cholesterol blockers”

When you go diving you aren’t allowed to tell the other divers you’re okay or not okay anymore. Die instead, otherwise you’re racist.

in the case of the media…it’s more like just avoid it entirely…

it’s all too toxic, unnecessary, and it’s nutritional value (ie relationship to facts and reality) is nonexistent

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was after. Thank you. :slightly_smiling_face:

I find it far more fascinating that so many people believe their government is lying to them re: flat earth, chemtrails, the moon landing, vaccination… than the conspiracies themselves.

Hey Always consensual baby. And i was joking because it would get auto banned.

probably because the government lies about stuff all the time, along with the media which is basically a branch of the government at this point in a lot of ways.

just because they aren’t lying to people about the specifics of some or many conspiracy theories doesn’t make this fact untrue.

Which Left? hard left? Histrionics. Literally the only reaction they know.
Progressive Left? Lamentations of their women and children.
Liberal Left? Resigned despair. Keeping their heads down and trying not to be the first under the bus.

If you’re curious, I’m a Social Libertarian fiscally. That means human = you get to survive with dignity. Anything else you want = get off your butt and do it yourself.
I’m also a Liberal/Libertarian (ie. Free Will) Progressive socially. Essentially, save that it harm none, do as thou wilt. Or “Do unto others 20% better than you would have them do unto you to correct for subjective bias.”

My philosophy is simple:
The threat of Socialism is inevitable Totalitarianism.
The threat of Capitalism is inevitable exploitation and slavery of all but the ultra-rich.

Socialism is Totalitarian because it controls EVERYTHING, and no matter how well-meaning at first, the administrative proxies for “the Will of the People” to whom you give control over that “everything” are, by definition, a Totalitarian government. This is an easy sell to most Americans. There are so many examples that don’t require self-critique for Americans, the bane of convincing someone of anything. But limited Socialism can be effective. See Scandinavia today or the US during the 50’s.

Capitalism is enslavement because if you have to “buy” survival, then that means someone else owns your survival at first. Competition is good, but eventually it ends with “winners” and “losers”. And if the winners get to own all the losers’ survival then that is functionally equivalent to owning those people. That’s literally the definition of slavery. Except Free Market Capitalism hides it by decentralizing who, specifically, the “owner” is. Owned by committee is easier to hide and rationalize. The best examples of this are Dickensian London and modern-day Somalia. Completely free, unregulated Capitalist markets. Absolute hellholes for everyone not on the tippy-top. The great delusion of Hard Libertarians is that “competition” will resolve into perfect, unending stalemate, as though it’s a stable system like pulling a trailer. It is not. It is an unstable system like backing up a trailer at high speed, and it will jack-knife on you in a heartbeat.

This leaves us with “Socialism’s reach should be heavily curtailed” and “Capitalism can’t be trusted with survival”. So you socialize survival. And you socialize education because it’s the safest and greatest ROI you can ask for. No other natural resource comes close to the inherent wealth generated by a well-educated populace. Past that, government provides nothing domestically, with the exception of being given responsibility for the environment. Protecting Spaceship Earth’s one and only life-support system from systemic plundering is an existential concern. If Capitalism can own our life support, then it once again owns our survival. Goverment’s only 3 mandates are:
-Survival and education
-Environmental conservation
-Foreign diplomacy and protection
ANYTHING beyond that is over-reach, requiring the Judicial Branch to shut it down.

Practically, our best bet from our current status quo is probably a UBI, universal healthcare (including dental and pharmaceutical) and free post-secondary education, but combined with the abolishment of all social welfare programs, minimum wage, overtime laws, etc. Imagine a behemoth like Walmart trying to survive when none of their workers NEED their paycheck for survival and then could instead work at the Ma & Pop shop down the road. How much less would that community-supporting small business need to spend to attract workers than a heartless, life-sucking corporation like Walmart? They’d pay 1/10th the wages! Compensate for THAT by volume, birches! (The Walton family are secretly Ents, birches!)

“But what happens when Walmart compensates by becoming a pillar of the communities it operates in, giving back and earning the good will of the people there!?” the alarmists ask.

“Mission. F***ing. Accomplished.”

Sorry, but I find rational ideas not based on accepting current models as axiomatic are few and hard to come by, so I tend to sperg and proselytize if given the chance. In my life I’ve gone from religious Right to bleeding-heart Left to Ron Paul Libertarian to Bernie Socialist, thrown out the stupid, and tried to distill the good and make it all work together. “Because the status quo is… NOT quo! The world is a mess, and I just… need to RULE IT!”

Greatest threats under 8 years of Trump are revolt, Despotic power creep, and climate catastrophe. Specifically in Tropic regions, which causes mass war like in Syria as factions fight over disappearing resources, causing millions of refugees that make the current crisis look like a backyard BBQ. Possibly ending in race and religion wars across Europe and even spreading to the Americas. Also expect massive Water Wars if we don’t kick our asses in gear over climate.

Next are Trump bending over for Russia and/or bungling N. Korea to the point of instigating nuclear war or allowing post-Communist Soviet despotism to become the 2nd greatest power in the world after China.

The final threat is revolt. It’s looking more and more like the next anti-establishment movement won’t be polite or orderly like the Tea Party, OWS, the Climate Strike, or even BLM. Sooner or later, if millions of people gathering to air their grievances yields no fruit, “alternative action” becomes more and more likely.

“Someone should probably tell the rich that workers banding together to present formal address of grievances is the alternative we worked out a long time ago to breaking down the factory owner’s front door and beating him to death in front of his family? I feel like they forgot.” @HoldenShearer

Old media doesn’t understand memes, that internet communities are not hiveminds, and that freedom of speech exists on certain sites(within the law). Add all of that together and you have clueless soccer moms and journalists saying kek is racist.

A common typo for lol is kik. Somewhere along the way it became a meme, kek. From there it became Topkek.

Old people don’t understand the internet, let alone the memes and such. Look at how they demonised our dear old frog meme.
