I know this is a common theme, but I’m not a fan of how this Endeavor system works. I keep forgetting to switch to the incomplete Endeavor on my alts and there’s no clear indication as to which Endeavor you’re on at log in.
It would help if there was some sort of Red/Blue icon for the house based on which faction neighborhood you’re currently working on.

Sounds like user error
Why would you need to know from the login screen? Press H upon login, you’ll know.
…lol. This isn’t possible because you can work on any endeavor as any character. You already have a horde and alliance symbol next to your character (as if the race wasn’t enough) but do what you’re asking would be restricting the character’s access to both houses, a redundant action that doesn’t actually change anything.
Like a buff icon? That might be doable. You might try looking to see if there are any addons yet that could make it easier to see at a glance which neighborhood’s endeavor you currently have active along with other endeavor-related information.
I’m trying to get into the habit of checking it every time I log on to a different character but I fall out of the habit once both endeavors are finished for the month.

I would like it if you complete one faction Endeavors the uncomplete one should be turned on by default so you don’t have to check all the time.

It wouldnt. Because every single solitary character would have both at all times. You, quite literally in fact already have this in the game anyhow, with the inactive endeavor literally saying that its not active for the entirety of the pane besides a button to make it active.
There is literally no easier way for the pane to tell you the endeavor isn’t active than that statement and a “Make active” button being the only thing you even see.
Naturally, because you have no need to do this otherwise as whatever endeavor is active or not has no bearing on your ability to get coupons or buy decor.
If it did, I’m sure a thread would exist about how UnFaIr it was that you couldn’t buy all the decor the first day it was active.
There is no easier way for the PANE to tell you, but a buff icon on your buff bar wouldn’t require two clicks to open the pane and then open the endeavor tab. I was trying to think of a way to show the endeavor status without having to open the Housing dashboard at all. The poster was asking if there could be a way to see the endeavor status as soon as he logged in. Sure, it’s only two clicks to check on it but that doesn’t mean a more directly visual way isn’t possible.
Blizz probably won’t add something like this but it seems like a simple addon could just add a little icon or have a little minimap button that shows red or blue and will let you click it to change from one neighborhood endeavor to the other.
What I said before that was
As in, we already have what they are asking for. If they can’t be bothered to hit one hotkey, something else is wrong with them.
However, if you need everything watered down to yet another buff so it’s one more UI pane you never open unless your actually interacting with 10% of it, then a “Red vs Blue” wouldnt work because, again, every character would have both endeavors at all times because there arent faction specific endeavors.
What you would need to do instead, is have an endeavor specific graphic with your neighborhood’s name on it.
no. What they asked was
AT
Meaning, they want to know from the login screen because they dont even want to switch characters. There’s a big difference between the login screen and the overworld.
dude basically doesn’t even want to log in if he hadn’t already previously logged in to switch the endeavor, which means, since they are horde, that means they’ll NEVER log onto an alliance toon because an alliance toon would default to the alliance endeavor.
I struggle to believe anyones time is that valuable that they cant take 3 minutes to log onto another character and press H, or they wouldnt be on the game to begin with.
Also why am I not surprised felix is right under the end of the thread looking at every thread I’m in so they can try in vein to claim I’m trolling people. Seems obsessive if you ask me.
Everyone you spend hours insulting for having a different opinion then you thinks you’re a troll tho

The neighborhoods are faction specific so there is no need for the neighborhood’s name to be added. If am am planning on doing world quests and also working towards XP for my Alliance house, I want to have the Alliance neighborhood
That is what they wrote but I don’t think that is what he meant. English syntax can be problematic for some people so I chose to answer it based on the most logical interpretation. Seeing which Endeavor you have selected before you hit the ‘log in’ doesn’t really help since you have to remember that fact once you are logged in and change the endeavor if necessary. Seeing which Endeavor you have selected once your character is logged in makes more sense. Being able to see the Endeavor at a glance while you are doing other activities could be really convenient.
On the chance that my interpretation is wrong, he can come back and tell me more clearly what he meant and possibly why on the log in screen and not after he’s logged in.
Surprisingly that has not been my experience. I would expect that would be the case but while making sure I had the right endeavor selected, I would often find it set as the one I had set on the previous character I had logged in as even if the faction was different. I did a lot of my Alliance neighborhood endeavor tasks on Horde characters (better gear and I only have the Yor cage key on Horde) and sometimes the Alliance one was pre-selected and sometimes the Horde one was pre-selected.
You aren’t understanding. You can turn on either endeavor for any character and work towards it. It doesn’t matter which neighborhood its in as the ENDEAVOR itself isn’t.
It looks like you chose wrong, to me.
Correct.
You can. Press H.
It is. On every character I have had, and in all 4 guilds they are a part of, it always defaulted to the endeavor of the neighborhood they were in first.
So. You understand this to the point you even did it yourself, and yet you said what you said in the beginning of your reply? Funny.
Sure. If they do. My response was on them stating that’s what they wanted. I tend to take people at their base dialogue until they quantify.
This isn’t what I meant. By “at log in”, I mean when logging into the world to play the game. If I wanted something on the login screen, I would have said “we should have an indicator on the login screen”.

Then respectfully, say that, because “at login” is typically shorthand for the login screen, and not actually entering the world.
If you want an indicator without logging into another character more than once for whatever reason, ask vamoose’s coder or altoholic’s coder if the functionality is possible.
However, again, all you need to do to see what endeavor you are on is to press H for all your actively played character, which is why I don’t see something like this being likely to be implemented.
Yeah, something like this would work too.
I’m leveling over 100 guys and checking the state of a passive system isn’t always top of mind. I’ve been trying to remember now, but this still feels like weak UX design.
Yes, if there’s no progress left to be made on one it’s kinda silly it’s wasted and not just automatically moved over to the other

Even if the endeavor is completed, you still might need housing XP for the house in that neighborhood. My Alliance neighborhood completed the endeavor long before I capped my Alliance house XP so I had to keep doing endeavor tasks until that was complete and even after capping the XP I was still doing some tasks (mainly world quests) just to earn more coupons. If I was planning on doing some old content dungeon/raid farming, I would want to have the right endeavor set so I could get some coupons as well.
When both endeavors are completed, there are reasons you might want to check to see which neighborhood endeavor you want it set on even if just for house XP and/or coupons.
Sorry you’re right, better to say if you’re capped on an endeavor, it should switch to the other
Autochanging upon capping would require more programming though as you wouldn’t want the system constanly doing a check and changing your endeavor when you want to be on the capped one for whatever reason. It would have to be limited to only doing a check when the character logs on and not change it automatically as soon as the active endeavor caps.
It would be nice to not have to open the housing dashboard and the endeavor tab to see which endeavor is set as active. Just hitting the hotkey only shows the house and XP but it does not show the active endeavor (assuming the hotkey H hasn’t been rebound to another action.)

Popping in to say, having to switch on every character is stupid. I have 20+ alts and having to switch back and forth is a nightmare. One of my houses is lvl 10 and one is 5 because of this. Why is it not an account wide switch???

Yep. That is one failing of the design and too many people stumble over it.
An alert or prompt or pop up with a toggle might be helpful. But, really, do the designers even know that we have this issue?
