K’aresh is boring. I get it, it’s subjective opinion, but 16 years of play has shown me a lot of zones, some good and some not so good. While I look back at the Maw with distaste I will say one thing - there was a lot happening there. It felt - and was often - dangerous. It made you watch where you going and really work to be stronger. I didn’t like the ambience and I definately don’t care much for dark, edgy places like that but it had far more depth to it than K’aresh has had, and a lot more content.
And this is coming from someone who didn’t much enjoy Shadowlands.
It just feels to me that WoW is on this gentle slide towards ennui where my sub gets me a minimum of effort in design. I’m hungry for good gaming and I’m being fed popcorn.
I go back to Grizzly Hills now and then, get on my ground mount, turn on the music and just ride through the zone. Was it filled with intense activity? No, it was fairly ordinary in respect to actual content. But I loved the feel of it and it just feels like home, far more than a zone like K’aresh could manage to do.
