I’ve never heard this but now that I have that’s very interesting to think about.
I have been advocating this for a long long long time. I have a huge thread up on the forums already titled Unofficial Night Elf Worgen Discussion which actually pre-dates the forum upgrade. For those whom may not know about the worgen lore, I posted a summary of it over there or you can simply read the Curse of the Worgen comic series.
But the Void Elves?
I think it would be awesome to see NE worgen in game. We all know Tyrande will be seeking vengeance next expac and releasing the worgen to pursue Sylvanas or drive the Horde from Ashenvale would be a great storyline. NE’s have always been my favorite race and anything that adds a little more ferocity to their lore is welcome.
Arugal’s sons and their hilarious lanky selves? Would Worgen.
Worgen, but they instead become Night Elves?
No thank you. I’d rather Sethrak, or intelligent Saberon/Tol’vir even though I hate cats.
I feel like since they just gave us new models the chances of seeing even more Worgen are slim at the moment, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen at some point. Personally I think we need new druid forms to go with these new bodies. “Original Worgen” would be almost the sort of thing I might grind for.
I guess its because they just have to deal with whispers, while the Worgen has to deal with a barely controllable emotion
except the 8.3 datamined stuff and the whispers of il’gynoth all but confirm she will lead the forsaken on the horde.
Taking two of the worst races and combining them… ugh.
How do Worgen DK’s like me work if Worgen are resistant to the undead curse? Is that a different type of undeath?
<Not being snarky. I’m genuinely interested in the discussion. >
So you’re not positive if that at all.
Because only really strong necromancers can revive them, that being the Lich King
My understanding is that the DK resurrection is different from what is done purely from the valkyr. In WOTLK (and dk start zone) the Valkyr are channeling the power of the Lich King to resurrect the dead. The Valkyr do not have as much power as the LK does - neither does Silvanas. Both of these things have a secondary benefit to resurrect undead. The LK is that power at his core. Perhaps a lich like Kel’Thuzad could also do it, but nothing that has to be granted the power of undeath can apply a greater curse than that of worgen.
(this is my understanding, but may miss a few things lore-wise.)
This would be awesome and if they can get a “wolf” form of feral, I’d be soo happy.
Honestly if Anduin does pursue peace with the Horde over the objections of Tryande and Genn, I would like to see them explore this option as a way to increase their fighting force. The NEs were able to restore the Gilnean worgens so that they are no longer mindless beasts. They should be able to do something similar with their kind now.
I would even be happy if the NE worgen were never actually able to revert back to NE form again. Instead living as Worgens but just enough of their self control left to control their actions.
She’ll lead an undead faction, I’m sure, just not the Horde undead, at least not for long. I can’t see them taking a character they’ve developed solely Alliance story side and plopping her in as a Horde faction leader. I mean, Horde players who aren’t on the forums or don’t watch lore videos or any other WoW homework outside the game will have no idea who she is.
Calia is being developed on the Alliance side, not the Horde side, because she’s going to continue being an Alliance character. I’d put money on it.
By original worgen, I mean original lore-wise - The night elven druids that became the first, original worgen.
Not the original models for worgen. Those are kind of neat, but… Yeah I don’t know.
Kaldorei worgen look like gilnean Worgen except they were noght elves at one point.
We already have enoigh races that should have just been customization options. Ssying “uh yeah night elf worgens suddenly have antlers now” just to make them fit is silly. It’d be a nice choice to be able to change into a night elf rather than a human. But as an allied race? No.
Purple puppies? Preposterous.
