Absolutely not. He betrayed his people and shows no regret even in death.
Frankly he belongs in the maw.
And so does Lor’themar.

Well man, the whole SL Revendreth stuff is kinda this (proving at least something of the original TFT Kael´thas the devs disgustingly destroyed back in TBC is still “in there” so to say).
I agree it´s too late for him to go back to rule the Belves, but on the other hand to “dismiss” his relevance for the Blood Elf ruling cast (Lor´themar / Rommath / Halduron) IS as supremely foolish as was villain batting to death Kael´thas back in TBC.
That “loser” as you so succintly put it, is the entire reason the Belves and Helves AS A WHOLE didn´t perish and/or became undead monstruoisities in the aftermath of Arthas´zombie apocalypse (yup, cause dear Lor´themar was too busy at the time anguishing over his massive screw up -A.K.A. Dar´khan- to actually think about the future of the race. It was Kael´thas the one to make them realize that, while they will never be able to run from their dependence and a guaranteed source for potential further disaster and disgrace, their world still wasn´t over and as surviving individuals they still had a life to live. THAT dude was something Lor´themar honored in respect of the man that put a new name over his race to honor the loses and the hope for a better future).
Kael´thas is pretty much an open wound that both Lor´themar AND Rommath still haven´t closed (I mean a decade after and Bob STILL anguishes and hurts over it ffs). To have them BOTH interact with Kael´thas so things finally get closure would be amazing and would finally end the narrative tale of Kael´thas Sunstrider. I´d love for Kael´thas to both recognize his sins and misdeeds against his race, for him to ask forgiveness but too for him to recognize the good work his replacements have done since then (and, like the petty Belf fangirl that I am, I´m totes in favor of Kael´thas officially reinforcing Lor´trhemar´s right to rule in the noses of the Windrunner airheads, so they finally get the hijnt and GTFO of their “muh Silvermoon” dreams).
you can easily tell it is a bait thread meant for discussing since OP hasnt replied much or at all.
I was with you up until this.
What about bringing him back as a Khadgar/Medivh type character?
love it! He’d work great as a medivh type.
If I wanted any blood elf mage to be a medivh type, it’d be Rommath. Kael’thas is a traitor.
I’d also be on board for them using Kael’thas story to develop Rommath and turn him into a major lore character – but I find this less likely.
Seriously, if Kael comes back, it shouldn’t be as a “leader”.
He should basically be a magical force of nature, dedicated towards protecting his people in the ways he was unable to before his death.
What, when he was high on fel juice or lost 90% of his personality as a zombie? Seems like he’s working through stuff now.
???
Rommath needs an actual model instead of the bad one he has.
So he gets actual damaging villain batting? WTF, Treng.
The only reason Medivh got “scott free” from his actual villain batting was because he´s “muh Human Potential” mage, ergo he got a free pass as usual with those types of characters.
I personally DON´T ever want any decent Belf mage character getting the pseudo neutral role, less so with the current moronic writting team. The closest thing we got to that was Aethas and I think that was bad enough as it was.
I think it’d be rad as hell if Rommath was known to be both so wise and powerful, that not even Tyrande would turn him away if he came to speak to her.
I would love for that to happen! <3 I miss my home!!! D:
he betrayed everyone let him stay dead
Kael’thas returning to life would present too many problems to Warcraft lore than it would fix for the nostalgic players. If one can just betray and defile the entire world, then take a refresher course in the afterlife and be all good again, it completely removes consequences from the universe.
I get it, some older gamers thought Kael was interesting nearly twenty years ago. I did too. But he’s gone, time to move on. What is he really going to do that another existing character couldn’t?
i loved kael’s character in wc3 before playing wow, but blizz destroyed his character. now he cannot go back he committed many crimes.
Lets just agree to disagree. So are you saying there should not have been any other Blood Elves worthy of character development? No other Blood Elves needed, or worthy of being developed? Just Kael’thas?
Personally, I like to think that a species or race, is about more than just one failure of a ruler.
I’m curious to see that too. I wonder if Blizzard will let us ask him, why he never used that Vial of the Well of Eternity to create a new Sunwell?
I’m not arguing his relevance to Blood Elf society and lore. I never have.
Uh, no, he is not. Kael’thas did not arrive in Quel’thalas on a shining white horse, with almighty magic in his hand, and a powerful army at his back, and turn the tide of Arthas’ zombie apocalypse. He showed up after Arthas had defiled the Sunwell, killed 90% of his people and left. Kael’thas helped with part of the reclamation, Lor’themar, helped with part of the reclamation, Rommath, helped out.
I’m pretty sure a lot of elves came together to reclaim Quel’thalas, not just Kael’thas, and only Kael’thas.
As for Lor’themar, he stepped up and took charge because, well, everyone above him in rank was dead, managed to reclaim the Bazzar and turned it into a makeshift base for survivors, all before Kael’thas even got back from Dalaran.
Kael’thas also claimed that without a new source of magic, his people would all die out. Something that numerous sources have all proven wrong.
I don’t hate Kael’thas for any of this though, in TFT, I thought he was a very brave, heroic, and noble fellow. I will give the due credit.
There is a difference between ignorance, and stupidity. Ignorance is doing something wrong, and not knowing it was wrong. Stupidity is knowing something is wrong, and doing it regardless.
Screwing around with Fel magic, not aware of how it could screw up your mind is ignorance.
Holding the actual means to restore the magic to his people in his hand, and choosing not to help them, and instead throwing in with the very enemies who are the source of all the crap they went through is stupidity.
Layman’s terms: A gang destroys your family’s home and business, you are starving and in debt. A militia group leader, gives the head of your family a large diamond to fence in for cash, so you can rebuild what you lost. Instead, the family head, pockets the diamond, then gets hooked on drugs, and then joins with the terrorist group that set up the gang, and turned them on you from the start. All while the family head becomes a junkie, and lets the terrorist do whatever they want to you. Forget the villain bat, I would use Negan’s bat on them instead.
After that, he just got worse, to the point where not only was he a raid boss, he got downgraded into a dungeon boss, after the raid.
Kael’thas is a loser, and it seems this what Blizzard wants.
I’m cool with this, but I won’t hold my breath either.
Do you want to agree to disagree, or do you want me to answer a bunch of questions?
Blizz destroys Kael’thas in TBC It was a mistake, because kael’thas was a beloved character and we all wanted him to be our racial leader and to make matters worse they didn’t develop lorthemar’s character into the game until a long time passed.
but they already did it, now they can change what happened. Kaelthas betrayed her people and no one in Quelthalas should want him back.if kael can make amends for his sins in shadowlands I’m glad for him but he should stay there he no longer has a place in azeroth
Yeah, Kaels BC Characteristica was a waste of Time and Developement, it was one of the most out of Character moves ever, performed by blizz.
