So many changes, but tweaking tank threat to address the shortage is just too much? Easy fix… Add an AP ratio and increase the mob count to 6.
Classic+ will be a better balanced and designed game. Classic had issues and sucks. The only reason to play it is to chill and have fun with the outdated game.
To be completely honest I like the fact that warriors aren’t good at AoE threat. While I don’t think it’s balanced I enjoy that each tank has clear strengths and weaknesses. And while situationally some are superior to others none are just flat out better in every situation.
If every tank plays the same way then why even have different tanks? Obviously not good for game balance but I enjoy the attempt they made.
Ya I’m not sure why people think we need to change warrior aoe threat when we could be changing our playstyle around it instead and make the game more fun.
When a frost mage is in my group I’m ready to aoe stuff down. When I have a feral cat, Hunter, and ele shaman, I focus fire and focus on interrupts and not breaking cc.
Right? And, both styles of play are fun in my point of view. I like the challenge of properly placing a freezing trap in just the right spot and hoping I get the right mob inside . . .
If you buff warrior’s aoe threat, you’ll need to buff prot pallies, because then they would have nothing to make them viable tanks. You would literally have an average 25-man raid take 3 rets. Actually wait, they already take 3 rets.
My theory is Pallys being the flavor of the expansion for TBC and people purchasing boost for the prot pal experience.
Any changes making warrior more viable like this they’ve worked out will impact on potential profits which let’s be real pallies are far superior in AoE tanking
Thunderclap was never sufficient to hold multiple mobs by itself, not even against healing agro. Tab sunder and cleave are your friends. Engineering also helps for the grenades if you don’t have that. The initial threat on a group will outdo healing agro for 10 seconds or so, enough too lock in the group. If you can’t do that even with tab and grenades, then re roll a Paladin since they are easy mode.
Prot Warrs still have Last Stand + Shield Wall, Spell reflect in some rare cases in raids where it works, and are slightly more tanky in equivalent gear. They are main tanks if the player is good and knows when too use those, it can save a wipe while a Paly or Bear would just die. The thing is everyone wants to AOE tank like retail and only 1 class can legitimately do it with 1 button press [consecrate].
