Had a mage in my 19 DoS pulling for me, course its necrotic and I die, all three times he does it. DPS was low so I was spending my cleanses quicker than usual, along with rotating my defensives quicker. So I chose to slow down for a couple up coming pulls just to recover CD’s. Nope, apparently me playing around what I do have and do not have, then making up time down the line with some bigger pulls, wasn’t good enough. So wipe after wipe resulted in a missed timer.
I get it okay, you have to do big pulls in upper keys, regardless of affixes, yet at a fundamental level. The tank dictates the pace for a reason, either being lack of experience or lack of CD’s. In which when you start pulling for them, your hurting the group instead of helping it, given each time I didn’t have a cleanse, and I simply died because I could not control my stacks enough.
This week is rough simply because necrotic is the one affix that you need a ton of control over, instead of being willy nilly with pulls like on other weeks. So please, do not pull for the tank, especially this week. We’re already having a rough enough time controlling stacks, adding on extra trash just makes our jobs harder than it needs to be and forces CD’s out at the wrong times.
It’s the part of the pug experience, dps pulls extra mobs and stands in fire then dies and calls tank and healer trash and leaves.
Best bet, find a guild with people who want to do keys and use voice chat, its the difference between wanting to pull out your hair in frustration and having fun easy keys.
Paladin is a wheelchair tank, similar to DK’s, I only have horse every 45 secs so kiting is a bit of challenge at times without a priest to grip or big AoE CC. Not to mention I was planning on being able to tank it, until they pulled more and it forced to me gather it, and incurred more stacks before I could get it under control again. It’s not as simple as kite lul sometimes, some of the trash jumps to you and can apply stacks again that way. There’s a lot to it, and it makes for a time when people start throwing monkey wrenches into it all.
don’t use your horse this week for getting into point a to point b. Use it for getting away to drop necrotic. Use kleia soulbind as it’ll help you stay in for longer times and have a bop cancel aura. Also use slow concecration. And use your racial before you run away.
does it happen? sure. and I hate it when it does. I’ve been a tank since BC and I’m pretty set in my tank ways. I prefer to orchestrate the pulls. But I wouldn’t say that I encounter a pull-happy dps/healer all that often, and I tank a lot of keys in the 15-22 range (ok well not so much the past 2 months, but before that)
that aside, good mages don’t get hit by the mobs they pull, they have a ridiculous amount of ways to avoid getting hit. if a mage pulls something then face tanks it and dies - that’s a bad player.
man as the tank you are in charge there. They need you way more than you need them. My favorite for POS dps is:
“oh you’re pulling for me? have fun in LFG looking for a new group might take ya 20-40 mins? I’ll be in another group in 5 ”
Y’know, I remember that this was one of the first topics I read on GD back 12 years ago when I started playing WoW. It’s sort of heart warming that people still post complaints about it.
May I make my perennial suggestion: play will people you know and can trust to at least try to do the right thing. PUG should also be described as PAYOR (Pug at your own risk).
yea i probably only found 1 dps that’s trigger happy for months now. I dont see them alot. It is annoying this week when you want to reset your phial. You need to be out of combat for a good 2-3 sec after the shades die before it starts a countdown
