Just Started Healing Heroics

Hated Cataclysm originally so I skipped Cata Classic. I want to play MoP so I swung back by my Vanilla/TBC/Wrath characters and got a couple to 85. Just doing some quick gearing to i390 or so to get them MoP leveling ready. Mostly been healing the dungeons as Resto Druid or Disc Priest.

What the hell are Prot Paladins?

I cannot keep this spec alive. They’re all like i330 in random leveling gear, and they just get absolutely trucked every heroic. Blood DKs I don’t even have to be there for (and they top the damage meters). Guardian Druids and Prot Warriors both feel fine to heal. But Prot Paladins are just floor PoV the entire dungeon. 10, 15, 20k HPS? They just die.

I’ve gotten to the point where I just GROAN whenever one of these tank is in my heroic and I’ve left about 50% of them (30min deserter debuff too) after a pull or two with these tanks.

A combination of using pvp gear to meet ilvl requirements and them not using defensives would be my guess.

Yea prot paladins are one of the tank that requires, funnily in both ways, a bit more of mastery to make it works. Moreover they should play with their healing seal if they struggle which I get won’t make you do more dps but it’s better than dying.

This should be way less of an issue in mop so there’s that.

Sure, but this is equally true for the Blood DKs, Prot Warriors and Guardian Druids. It’s not specific to Prot Paladin.

Why can I not keep Paladins, specifically, alive?

I have no better answer honestly. I geared 3 prot pallys and had no issues but I was sure to reforge what I could to defensive stats and use my cd’s. There is no reason you should be struggling to the extent that you are if they are doing these things. Especially with your level of gear.

Are they using their cooldowns, Paladins have no problems tanking… if they use their cooldowns. Speaking from experience as I learnt this lesson the hard way.

Otherwise they are just relying on their avoidance, at 330 ilvl they don’t have very much of this.
