Not necessarily. Frost mages can get frost ward which will absorb some damage, never all. DKs get some heavy magic resistances and IIRC temporary immunity, but not blanket immunity.

Which ones? Clearly not this one.

If you’re fighting someone that’s proficient in the same magic you are, no because they have just as much control of the magic as you

I should get fire immunity if I put on a mog that someone determines is “fire” or frost immunity if the mog is “cool”.

I’m immune to all damage thanks to my strong belief in the power of karma :yin_yang:

As for the fantasies, in some DnD, elder scrolls and the like. Heck in one fantasy vampires are not only weak to sunlight by they’re also weak to water. Submersion in water burns their flesh like acid to a human.

Wouldn’t that just become a stalemate then? It’s like at some point you’d both realize that you’re not going to win with Magic and look for a sharp stick or something.

That’s why you don’t see two fire Mages just sitting in front of each other casting fireballs at each other

Well, in the original release of the game this would have been true. Fire resist was essential against Ragnaros.

Mechs immune poisons

Making classes immune to certain elements would make roster building a living hell for raiding guilds and even break certain aspects of the game. There has been a long history of guilds being very persnickety about which classes are allowed to raid in which roles.

Imagine a raid boss that does a ton of ice damage and now every guild demands their members all roll DKs for that fight. That never goes well.

They removed all those immune conditions i think in WotLK. They did it for gameplay reasons.

This is true: Silver is listed as one of the things in WoW which can kill undead, the others being: Light spells and Light enchanted weapons, and Saronite.

Now can someone explain to me how Barbed shot even remotely affects a rock golem?

I didn’t remember that - is it written down somewhere? Not that “silver” weapons have ever really been represented in game.

I’m not calling for mechanical changes like that. I was just thinking out loud that Frost damage really shouldn’t be a thing to Frost DK’s, well in Lore anyway.

I agree though Game mechanics would be terrible if Blizz tried to do something like that.

People get persnickety about anything and everything. Besides why does it matter what a raiding guild thinks? Why does stuff getting added or removed have to be pre approved by them? Lol

Back in BC, certain raid bosses required specific resistance gear. It made sense logically, but it was stupid in game terms. (Like how a specific raid group couldn’t advance until their tanks got specific gear). In a sense, the DK presences worked in a similar way, so it follows that they’d move away from those, too.

Then i guess we better shut the forums down and agree as a society to never have a single thought again.
