Let’s clairfy there have been High Elves Allied with both versions of the Alliance. They may have been screwed over by a single commander in a single campaign in the rts games but on the whole they got along fine. More over the current Alliance of Stormwind has never screwed the High Elves who remained as allies over. It’s the same as being pissed at Voljins Horde which had a moment of peace with the Alliance of Stormwind over the actions of Blackhand’s Horde as they are vastly different groups even if some of its member races are the same.
Then request a dwarf on the horde? :o
Also, it’s not the horde’s property. The High Elves are all over the alliance capitals and battle fields.
High Elves are an Alliance “thing” and nobody would be negatively impacted by their inclusion. Moreover, Blizzard’s take on High Elves is itself cool and creative and the community has been deprived of participating in that character fantasy despite its promotion in-game.
Personally there’s quite a lot things I would want before High Elves, but everyday these fourms are clogged with post begging for High Elves, so as it stands I say this is the best way for blizz to get them into the game, so people can stop with the High Elf threads already.
High Elves are an Alliance thing - NPC factions. Blood Elves are a Horde thing - playable race and NPCs.
High Elves look a lot like Blood Elves (same race, so that makes sense).
Blood Elves are a playable race, big time. The game may be negatively impacted by having their look-sake playable for the opposite faction.
Given that the issue is the commonalities in appearance, it would be better for playable High elves to be an Allied Race, rather than be one-to-one with the Blood eves on the character creation screen. Maybe not have them as a playable race, that would work as well.
I agree with the OP as this being the best way for us to gain their inclusion. Blizz would never waste an allied race slot on High Elves especially since there’s already the Void Elves unless they started giving every one of the original races a second look alike allied race.
To be honest, the best way Blizzard could handle this without adding yet another elf race to the game is to do away with the Silver Covenant. Either kill them off entirely or make them all Void Elves. That way, they’re no longer on the front lines as High Elves, and we eliminate an elf faction from the game.
I don’t hate the High Elves, I just hate that they’re in the game and a forefront to the Alliance without being playable. But I also don’t think we need a fifth playable elf choice because we have enough already. This game wasn’t even originally about Elves and yet they overpower almost everything else, so I’m happier with less options.
Then what will you ask for if you get high elves?
They have so far avoided making them an Allied Race because of faction identity - the answer isn’t going to be amplify the impact on faction identity by an order of magnitude.
If getting them as a playable AR is a problem, getting them as a full fledged playable race is a much bigger problem.
A Tinker class so I can ride around like Geblin Mekkatorque in a badass mechsuit.
Why would any of the requests change? High Elves will still exist as part of Warcraft’s history and the inclusion of Mag’har from an alternate timeline means that the feasibility of allied High Elves is never off the table.
It would finally get me to roll a Gnome that’s for sure
Please no… we really don’t need more elves in game.
BARELY and RARELY do you fight alongside a High Elf, lol. They are far and few between, and don’t really actually contribute much when they do appear in-game. They hardly contribute even in a lore text. Sorry, but Alleria’s been MIA for far too long, and Vareesa hasn’t done hardly jack of squat. There’s been small contingents of High Elf forces that have dotted up here and there to lend a helping hand, but never anything major.
This would be a good idea… in 2007. They could simply released Belves and Draenei as neutral races in Burning Crusade, makes more sense lorewise and would be a cool feature for the expansion.
how about we make humans neutral too while we’re at it, since horde has worked with the humans of alterac and a pirate crew in kul tiras? if you wanna steal our highest pop race, we steal yours in return.
The alliance…do they EVER stop crying?
no horde has enough mud huts and ugly
The Alliance without elves from Quel’thalas is a human empire rather than a collection of kingdoms. The Horde with Blood Elves is just the Red Alliance.
High/Blood/Void Elves being neutral is a great idea because it solves both of those persistent factional identity issues.
