FYI:
If you don’t know it, along the Missouri river is a HUGE fault plate.
So living in Omaha Nebraska, I’ve always wondered about that possibility; It just doesn’t give us active trouble, like they get in California.
Just read there was a large one in Missouri in 1812.

I always assumed it might be a tornado, which are much more random.

I’ve felt earthquakes in CA and NY (NY!). Generally in the Richter 5 range, they always felt like a massive truck going by on a nearby road. KInda cool.
The hurricane: not so cool.

As do I. I was a kid but I can tell you exactly where I was and what I was doing. Man that was a while ago.
I was doing homework in the kitchen.
Getting ready to eat dinner. I was under that table so fast, looks like all that grade school training paid off.
My mother grabbed me by the arm and dragged me outside. It hurt quite a bit. The ground was still shaking when we got out there.
Needless to say I’m not afraid of earthquakes. It takes a 5.5 or higher to make me bother to actually move. Otherwise I’m just like oh the ground is shaking.

We had 2 days of cristobal but no earthquakes recently by me.
This one didn’t drop down until it went 50 miles past me. We got a lot of high wind and hail out of it, and I needed a new roof and both cars got a big check.
That was a scary day. You know you’re in the wrong place when the Weather Channel storm spotters are 2 miles from you reporting on tv. Over 150 people died in that half hour.
Yea, Topeka KS here and I felt no earthquake.
