Just gonna log off until creation catalyst releases

They really should’ve made tier sets useless for pvp, and make vers actually useful since even with a 30% damage reduction you still die in the same timeframe with or without.

I mean a tier set would be nice, but I’d rather have them focus on making the damage reduction useful.

I am not sure I agree with people on this one, maybe I don’t quiet get the idea. Lets say youre unlucky amd bosses dont drop tier for you…

Raid comes out, 10 bosses. Each boss drops a token, 80 tokens gets you a tier priece of your choice. Static stats. Since this is the catch up mechanic, there is no way to get marks next week for the bosses you don’t kill this week.

Raid comes out, 10 bosses. Bosses don’t drop a token, but in 8 weeks time you can make a tier piece out of something from the same armour piece (pants turn to tier pants). Since you’re converting a piece of gear you can use pieces with preferred stats on it. Not dependant on killing bosses at all.

Wait time on second idea shortens after each piece you make while the first one doesn’t. Both “could” be considered catch up mechanics and the second one let’s your alts get tier easily without raiding.

Both require 8 weeks time to start, but second way gets you faster in the long run.

Right now, we get the second one but not only that we can get tier pieces through pvp aswell as dungeons (via vault) ontop of the raiding scene. Everything has RNG, and now we have a catch up that guarantees us that we won’t finish this raiding tier without getting our hands on 4pc sets overtime.

From a pvp perspective, Arena/BGs have always been influenced by pve gear. Trinkets, weapons, tier have always influenced how fights between players end. I would much rather have this method then paying raiding guilds for certain boss kills, just to feel like i can compete (healing trinket from ToC PTSD). Pvp is burst right now, geared to the teeth or not, you are still being one shot by everyone, DPS still zug zug thier way through games (Healer main) and adding guaranteed tier means more damage is yet to come. Learn what modifiers to watch for, when to use defences and when to just slow them and run. It makes it alot more fun to play (ret pop wings? CC and run. Avatar and Warbringer? Stun and run, Monk adds up? Fear and run. Don’t face tank thier cooldowns, learn what to watch out for. Blowing your stun to do damage? Won’t have it to stop thiers)

I see a lot of people defending the current system by comparing it to previous systems and it is better than what we’ve previously had.

The problem is player agency.

  1. Timing of catch up or brute force mechanics (catalyst/cap removal) leads to a large period of time where a subset of players has a competitive advantage over others. We’re several weeks into the patch and casuals still don’t have access to LFR wing 2…

  2. Power disparity makes currency farming disparity a larger gap. Week 1 pvp vault weapons confer a huge pvp advantage, example. That yields upward pressure on rating and frees up your currency for more impactful purchases weeks 1-3 (major slots). So these players can level conquest equipment sooner and quicker.

  3. M+ does allow some form of brute force, in that if you can time the content you can get some decently leveled dungeon pieces. That requires less work on upgrading in subsequent weeks. Ring, but at least if you want you can farm the unbound changingling in M+ higher keys to get a strong trinket option where it matters.

  4. Time. I work full time, and I’ve spent 2-4 hours a night for a few weeks straight trying to fill out my vault for my toons. This is absorbing a huge chunk of my hobby time just to try and stay at par because the vault hasn’t been the crutch I’ve needed it to be.

Just don’t come back and then complain because you don’t have actually gear to convert because you took the next month off.

Every week I get full raid and keys vault. 10/11N and 7/11H clear (2 weeks) and still zero tier

You aren’t going to be able to instantly make 4p the second catalyst is available anyways. They put a timegate on a timegate lol

It’s the same issue that tier sets had in the past and that domination gear had.

I don’t know why they don’t just have a simple vendor system. Raid bosses drop currency, use currency to buy your tier, easy.

My point is, if you are going to be using your vault gear to convert (which for almost everyone will have higher ilvls) and you wait until they release the convert system you could find yourself waiting until the next week to be able to covert your first piece or wasting that week on a subpar item.

The worst thing about Catalyst is the recharge time.

Just make the conversion costs a wee bit higher and take out the cooldown.

Assuming you get lucky and have tier slots from your vault. I didn’t have a single slot out of my 9 choices this week. 10 seconds in 15’s is a much more reliable way to get tier slots to convert at the catalyst.

Entitlement has become really strong in this game

Well one sure fire way to make sure you don’t have one of those slots? Don’t play until then. I have been pretty lucky, two of the three tier set pieces I have were actually from my great vault  But even if not, I would be using these weeks to get and hold on to the best options I can to convert on day one.

I mean I already have head, shoulders, chest and legs from m+ that can be converted. It’s not an unrealistic scenario to just log out and wait but in op’s case they might as well wait until 9.2.5 when everything is available instantly.

They never learn from their mistakes. Or they purposely do it to milk subs.

Blizzard scales m+ higher then previous tiers, designs the raid with tier and double legendaries in mind, and also makes it so you can use tier sets in pvp. In the first tier without master loot, but in exchange they have bad luck protection! That comes in in 2 months. Along with double legendaries coming in 3 weeks after the content that is tuned for its existance comes out. But worry not you can fill your entire vault for nine low individual chances to get a tier piece.

So when you get no tier pieces, or when your like me and have gotten one from raid and you get that same one and just that one in the vault this week, just get good and wait. Ignore the part where the toppest of tier players are all rocking 4 sets because they exploit split runs and have once again proved that they will always go full degen to bypass the systems that blizzard makes to slow them down, the systems that instead just slow down the rest of the playerbase.

Wanting to be able to compete with your peers? Wanting to try the exciting class changes that 9.2 is bringing with that final but massive surge of borrowed power? Just get good rng. Didn’t get it but still want those powers in a reasonable timeframe because it will make your gameplay intesting? “Stop being entitled” Just wait two months because being gated by rng and weeks is fine after waiting a year for a patch. Its all good we’ll have another year on this patch, except for the players who wisely quit two years ago.

2 months for creation catalyst is way too long, and double legendaries should have released with patch if only to spice things up. I don’t even want to play my alts because they play the same as last patch but worse in most cases due to tuning changes. Also fix ele.

Something else I want to point out, many of us are voicing concerns over gearing our mains.

The systems are so incredibly alt unfriendly because we naturally run less on Alts.

Player power should matter, and you should feel stronger when you get upgrades, and it should be rewarding and exciting. I understand it’s hard to keep things exciting when they become commonplace. I’m not trying to buck that philosophy.

Make it rewarding to put effort in and target specific upgrades from day 1.

My Druid (3rd character I play) got the 265 regrowth boosting mace from last weeks weekly m+ quest. It’s almost 10% of my healing now. That’s a substantial increase on my throughput because I got lucky. Top that off with some good boss drops and vault rewards and you have players pushing 20-30% more healing/dps/threat whatever in the first few weeks of progression. When we finally get a catch up mechanism, it’s time gated…again.

I got benched on progression fights in previous xpacs for crap like this on my other toons. It’s crappy, but I also don’t like the idea that 10-20 other people didn’t down a boss because my throughput is lacking for certain mechanics and if dropping me gives them a chance at getting loot then go for it. Just because I get it doesn’t make it a rewarding hobby when the stars align.

We would put ~1h-2h into progression pulls and then start filling underperformers in my last guild. Lots of times we were able to do the boss because of those prunes. That’s awful when these people are spending what little free time they have preparing for this content. I’m not talking about mythic raiding. I’m talking about casual play (normal raids, up to 1400 pvp pre-I flatiron, random bgs, m+10-12.)

They know what is happening and refuse to change it for time spent.

That’s because there wasn’t a limit to how many tier pieces dropped per boss kill. It was just random.

absolutely disagree with that.
these sort of comments made it so they removed set pieces in the first place.
the arguement is that the Creation Catalyst needs to release earlier not that the set pieces are a bad system…
