Not sure when this is meant to insult: as to imply a superiority for those who choose to play its predecessor exclusively.
Its meme worthy: go back to the newer version that is improved in many ways, but in large part, suffers exactly the same type of gameplay and community in classic.
Am I alone and not buying the hype from vanilla classic that the games are truly that different? If they are, players seem to approach both with a mad rush to raid.
Same. And same for retail. I play where most my friends are having fun. I don’t feel more…justified in playing one over the other because both are simple, zen like, mmos that are pretty chill and easy.
Which is funny because people hyped classic up as the “community” game and “its about the journey not the destination!” when really they’re all still rushing to get to end game to raid still while being just as toxic, if not more so, than their ‘retail’ counterparts
Yeah tbh same. I’ll have a frontline or feast match queue’d in the background and play WoW while waiting. Man I missed XIV. Being able to have all classes on one character is honestly amazing and leveling doesn’t feel completely awful and a chore. It just happened from actually playing real content and not just quest mob farming.
Precisely. Luckily, there are slow casuals chilling and chugging along. Maybe its all the streamer clickbait drama feeding the anxiety of the times? Its a business - nobody is going to watch and emulate: “Only got half a level today cuz Im rotating crafting alts and fishing!!”
Incidentally im in tbc because I like crafting, and it means more than most other expansions. Im not in it to “goblin” because its about the puzzle and process.
You know that meme/comic that has the two guys talking in the top panel and they mention something that catches the attention of a group of people who, in the bottom panel, are running around yelling stuff while spewing crap out of their rears? Thats what I imagine people like OP and the “#NOCHANGES” crowd are like.
Parts of the game are designed to be played solo and other parts designed to be done in groups. Virtually no one groups for what is obviously solo content. Blizzard even tells you in the quest log when you need a group for a quest and suggests the number of players needed. These are just facts slapping you in the face but you can’t see them. What people with healing specs or tanking specs want is just what dps has. The ability to have fun playing all parts of the game. Force us to choose and some people will choose to use the dps spec and not tank or heal. Give us dual spec and some will choose to do both, dps while farming and questing and tanking or healing dungeons
This is why I rolled on Grobb (an RP-PVP server). Sure its a PVP server, but the vibes on the server isnt as toxic and tryhard as the other big 3 (Herod/Whitemane/Faerlina) or other pvp servers. Sure some of my guildies no lifed it and got to 70 within the week due to them taking time off or they had weird schedules and long off times to make it work (ex: we have paramedics in our guild with long periods of off time, but then go on 12 to 24 hour long shifts, sleeping on site…etc.) but 90% of the guild is still either low 60s, or just passed the halfway mark at lv 65.
While there is benefits to getting to lv 70 as fast as possible through dungeon grinding like quest xp being converted to gold at 70, but its soulcrushingly long.
More of your faulty reasoning. There are dozens of changes in retail. Asking for one of them doesn’t mean we like all of them. Quit the game if you don’t like the changes should be your solution too.
I feel you. Personally I didn’t care when Legion introduced it. Just no way they implement a Legion change in TBC: this is ActiBlizz we are talking about.
Retail has it, btw. Its pretty slick, too.
For TBC, I just take the effort to roll an alt (did it for my druids). Less stress and Im in no hurry.
There are limits to how much I can do that. I have a hunter to farm for Fey but my druid is alliance and I don’t have the time to level a farmer for her. Dual spec was released in Wrath which most people consider not retail.
Bro I downloaded FF14 yesterday and I’m having a blast. Working my way to Paladin right now then gunbreaker at lvl 60 I think maybe dark knight or dragoon I can’t decide!!!
I main ninja myself, been playing Dark Knight for my tank and have been having a blast. Story is tons better than anything Blizz has been putting out recently. I let my sub lapse almost 2 months ago and only recently came back to give TBC a shot and RP on retail.
