Also, you realize that on these forums when people bring up the posters race, it’s an attempt to shut down the conversation and dismiss them. That’s why Male Human Paladin is such a meme here. You’re an experienced enough poster to know that.
My whole point was that Avangeline was trying very hard to get people to judge the cities on the architecture, not the technology and limitations, becasue just like the Exodar, Silvermoon is clearly at a disadvantage if we include the fact that it’s a shadowbox and you can’t fly.
If you like Suramar more, great! Describe the canals, describe the architecture, describe the colors, tell us you like muted colors more, tell us that Silvermoon is too vibrant. These are all things you can describe without bringing in flying or old city technology.
That’s all he wanted. He didn’t say your opinion was wrong. Just that he wanted to hear what you thought based on the appearance of the city alone. Because for some people, if they like a city enough, convenience doesn’t come into play.
At this point, Suramar isn’t convenient either what with it being stuck in the past and constantly being attacked, but it’s not something I would bring up if someone asked me about the appearance.
For the record though, I like it a lot too. I like that it’s sprawling and there’s so much to explore and it’s mostly in blues and purples and whites vs reds and golds. I like that it had so much life in it, so much actual population and it had little things like a zoo and a vineyard and it actually is probably the first city to really feel like a city in this game.
I find the Horde kind of depressing. The only race I really connect with is Tauren. Everything else is iron spikes and rotting corpses. Fortunately, I’m not concerned with high end content like raiding and mythics. So, the participation imbalance doesn’t affect me too much.
Well, sure. Purely based upon cosmetics I prefer the more muted pallete that Suramar has. I also like Ironforge more than Stormwind and old Orgrimmar better than new org.
I do think that the technological limitations in Silvermoom detract from its overall appeal though. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is it not the only city in the game that has a loading screen in the middle of it?
They should redo that city. Fully 3D, more focus on the scar instead of it just being a thing you can see from outside of the city–maybe some monuments of some sort–HD models, et cetera.
Silvermoon could be pretty great, despite the garish pallete.
I really liked that about it too, plus the buildings actually had rooms and furniture rather than massive open spaces like other cities, Silvermoon included.
There’s a loading screen to get into the zone from Eastern Plaguelands. It’s a bit like getting to the Exodar on Azuremyst Isle, however there it happens during the boat ride.
Exodar and Silvermoon are actually floating in the Outland maps, they’re not part of the Azeroth map. There’s a YouTube video where someone maphacks and flies off of Outland and shows where the zones around Exodar and Silvermoon are. It’s actually pretty interesting.
Realistically, what’s the point to current factions now? Make instanced content cross faction and there’s no more participation imbalance between Horde and Alliance. We’re always banding together to go against some greater bigger baddie anyway.
