Just for kicks, if you have a ret, go level him and do some delves or dungeons

I rather see other Rogue tools buffed before healing is addressed.

The nerf to Gouge is more a PVP thing but since it applies to PVE as well then they really need to revert this change. It hurts leveling/questing Rogues the most and not noticed in PVE endgame while annoying in PVP endgame.

Kidney Shot nerf to 30 second in response to "too much CC’ in TWW makes no sense to me. I think Kidney Shot should have energy cost removed if it is going to cost combo points and be 30 seconds now.

Feint off the GCD helps but I think that Sprint should have snare protection the first three seconds baseline.

Or, they should make a talent called Unstoppable Sprint where it acts as a root break but shortens the duration of Sprint by half in the general Rogue tree.

Legitimate question: How?

Even when I Tricks onto Brann I have to be careful of enemies specifically targeting me with hardcast spells/abilities that often chunk 1/8th to 1/4th of my HP at a time before going back to melee attacking him. (They seem program to specifically target the next highest aggro player probably to counter things like threat misdirection and pet tanking)

And if I let them melee they will absolutely shred me. Even with Feint up.

And I have issues reliably CCing because Brann, in typical Hunter fashion, will thoughtlessly multishot, or rain arrows or sic his pet T- Rex or just rapid fire them unless I can successfully pull targets really far away. Which can be risky because again enemies can absolutely shred me if they get on my for even short periods.

In fact I often almost die in the time it takes for Brann to unstealth so I can Tricks to him when I pull. So much so I’ve started pre-casting Feint while in stealth before the pull or just accepting I won’t get my stealth opener and pulling by throwing my piddly little daggers then tricking.

I mean if stealth is going to be what it is, I’d like to see the requirements removed entirely for assassination and outlaw (at the very least).

  • Indiscriminate Carnage should just cleave your garrote and rupture.
  • Garrote should be tuned so that there is no more additional damage when doing it from stealth
  • Ambush (for sin and outlaw) is just a proc.

Just remove the requirement and/or bonus of stealth all together, for those two specs. It’s obvious we’re somehow balanced around it existing. Instead of feeling good opening from stealth, it just feels bad when we can’t. And that’s a problem, even with the bugs aside, there’s a myriad of reasons why we just can’t sometimes. It’s not like we’re bursting higher than a frost dk when we can open from stealth, etc.

Bring rogues into this decade…or just delete them at this point.

And before someone mentions it…my character, when I sim it for a 40 second, 5-add fight opening from stealth versus not opening from stealth…

  • No stealth/no vanish: 4,097,845 dps
  • Open from stealth: 6,512,069 dps

That’s a sizeable difference in a very standard pull size and length. Opening from stealth matters. That’s a bit over 60% more additional dps when opening from stealth. So people can preach all day about “stealth not mattering” – but at the end of the day, the sims tell the truth. Maybe for “overall” things get a bit more complicated…but when it comes to a pack that needs to die quickly and/or getting your damage out, those numbers simply don’t lie.

I say we use the legendary rogue resourcefulness and switch to ret pallies. Then we make them so OP that the spec gets nerfed into the ground.

Nm me I’m bitter and hate full and my Stanley cup filled with thistle tea is running low.

Well I haven’t done many delves on my rogue because they feel disgusting to play so I’ve done it on a monk and a survival hunter and it’s just a bloody face tanking cake walk.

But as long as you have enough gear and pick up potions it’s kinda hard to die

That’s the thing I don’t get exactly. At T8 and T9 enemies will easily chunk me down even if I’m double fisting potions as soon as Brann throws them. Am I wrong to assume that a DPS have that experience in higher Delves?

For clarification: Rogue is the only DPS I’ve taken into Delves, all my other experience comes from taking Tanks in.

basically you want the game to hold you hand and play the game for you. gotcha

On my monk I have to face tank more mobs than I should be to face anything that will make me jump into some sort of defensive action.

However, this is a monk and not a rogue.

I have a heal that pops off every 15 seconds and crit heals me for like 1.2m as well as instant cast heals that do like 1m every 10 seconds.

And I have karma, diffuse magic, stone skin brew, an AoE stun and ring of peace.

Rogues have like cloak of shadows and evasion. I know you can just blast vanish and turn Brann into a punching bag but I’ve also found monks damage delivery to be way better suited to delves.

Woah…using Vanish as a defensive CD? We don’t do that here.

Keep in mind Rogues lost Combat Readiness so Monks are ahead of Rogues when it comes to defensive utility. But Rogues over time did gain more usage of Vanish.

But right now Rogue tools are lagging behind other classes and specs.

This is why BlizZard is desperately buffing Sprint and Feint so much because even they can see something is off with Rogues falling behind.

i had no issues soloing a tier 11. Didnt really tricks bran either. It might be a gear thing. Damage does seem inconsistent sometimes. I would get randomly chunked by a cobalt, probably a melee crit.

Ret was made for you. Rogues take more skill to play, that’s why you can’t do it.

If the payoff was there in terms of more damage or something, I’d see your point. And it’s not that people (or I, maybe your comment is directed specifically at me) “can’t do it” – it’s more the fact that Ret, for example, isn’t burdened by outdated range restrictions, annoyances, and bugs.

Yeah even in SL it barely worked. When it did work the healing was nearly insignificant. So over 3 years.

Solution is easy. Put Shadow Dance back as a capstone. Everyone has literally been complaining more about stealth since it was taken out. Stealth is a part of rogue, believing its going away is naive. Wanting to keep it but have it have 0 effect on the rotation is dumb. So put it back :man_shrugging:t5:. And replace Thistle Tea with an actual capstone, not a bandaid for poor design.

Delves feel bad on rogue no matter what youre doing. I did T8s at 570. The things you have to do to survive are just dumb. Even when youre using Tricks on Brann you then have to hope he doesnt do hunter stuff, and run across the map with the pack. I literally have had 0 interest in doing them on Rogue since M+ opened.

No.

That is also wrong. There’s nothing wrong with Stealth. The problem is Subterfuge being a requirement for a spec(s) that doesn’t even use Stealth Abilities in Subterfuge windows.

Just take it out already, it’s completely pointless.

It wouldnt be a requirement if you had the other capstones replaced with something useful instead of crying bout stealth like a

I really enjoy playing Sub. It’s fun bouncing around the place: I just wish it did more damage, though I’m slowly working on my gear and admittedly I’m still learning the class.

It feels bad basically having to apologize beforehand for my damage in dungeons, then hopping on my Lock and topping them.

It seems like Blizzard does balance changes around the 1% of top-end PvPers. I can’t imagine why the class would be ignored otherwise, especially with the release of M+ DPS numbers.

I play assassin mainly, and outlaw sometimes, and have levelled a pally, and was completely bored the whole time I played ret.

It’s clear to me that ret is just the easy beginner class and that’s okay, because the only thing you gain from extra rets is easy damage in a group, and if your rets aren’t doing as good as the best ret, you’re better off just having a different classes in that group composition.

But I play for fun, and doing great damage on a harder class makes me feel good.

That being said, the whole “ignoring” rogues thing makes me feel like a whole rework is coming sometime for rogues, which will be interesting if it happens.
