Two execs, three senior developers… Assuming another of the Does 1 through 10 named as defendants called out in the DFEH suit is Afrasiabi, my guess is we now know the names of five more problematic perps.
The sad thing is that Activision Blizzard knew about this, condoned it, and generally ignored it, until the State of California said, “no, there are laws here, and we’ll see you in court.” And that was after fruitlessly pursuing non-litigous, cooperative compliance through mediation, conferences, etc. at the state’s expense.
I just spent the afternoon actually reading the DFEH filing, after happening to read a different publisher/industry titan’s 2019 report on progress made toward more equal employment and compensation, and the contrast between the two was stark.
It’s been no secret that this is an issue in the industry. It’s also no secret which companies are actually trying and evaluating strategies for positive change, and which just hire law firms for performative consultations with no follow-through.
Oh I know there were other options. Just hammerdin having no weakness was a huge driver. I was playing a trap assassin, and let me tell you, the bane of her existence was seeing anything immune to electricity.
