I found it quick and mediocre. And you’d be entirely wrong about the bad guys. They are the bad guys.
I had recently purchased the xpansion a week ago and I felt that the leveling in that zone was too long. I was 56 when I left Bastion. The scenery was also bland imo. I wasn’t really buying the story either… I’m currently 59 and I’m in Ardenweald just doing campaign only quests from Bastion on out seeing as I’d be 60 with terrible gear and under performing dpsing mobs down at that level. So far I like Maldraxxus but there isn’t really a “great zone” so far…
‘level’ means nothing this expansion.
enjoy the story, and pay attention to the zones a little for when you pick your covenant.
All the zones artwork are fantastic. When I imagined the afterlife, bastion was it. Beautiful sunny skies. Wide open fields of golden grass. Bastion, imo, is the easiest getting around.
The other zones have many vertical challenges, or huge obstacles in the way. Bastion has this but more limited that any other zone.
I dislike Ardenweald the most. I harvest a lot of ore/herbs and that place is the worst.
Bastion is the best for harvesting herbs, very good for skins and okay for ore.
You must have done every single quest and epic monster in there to get 6 levels out of bastion. Each zone I usually get 3 and a little more levels out of it, so I hit 60 at the end of revendreth. Just try to stick to the main story line, you will have time and an easier go at the side quests when your ilvl is higher.
In this xpac, you will feel your toon get weaker and weaker as they level up. When you hit 60, go to AH and get some 158 gear (or make your own if your profession is right) and things will get much better after that.
I thought Bastion was quite boring, and I did not care for Maldraxxus. I liked Ardenweald and Revendreth. Both zones are beautiful, and have a fairly interesting story.
Bastion Stewards make me sad. Then again I’m not really a fan of the whole creation of a sentient that is basically forced into slavery through psychological means bit.
It’s kinda like house elves in harry potter.
Can just imagine Kyrian Covenant Steward ability being like this
Not like Dredgers at all.
The lack of a mount…as a druid in the maw?
Bastion is my favorite zone because the grass density reinforces my decision to buy a $400 GPU for a 17 year old game.
Sometimes I forget I’m on my druid, all my characters are worgen
I found the initial Kyrian questlines to be so boring. The covenant questlines is even worse. Blizzard really dropped the ball with adding such a snooze of a zone.
The dredgers know they’re slaves and have commentary about not liking it. It’s one thing to create a sentient, enslave it and have them not like it but who cares because your not a good person. Literally all the people of Revendreth are technically bad people. At most you can consider them ‘reformed’ but I think that they still really suck at being not bad guys. At least the dredger’s mind isn’t enslaved though. Most likely because the vampires don’t care about dredger lives.
It’s an entirely new and IMO worse kinda bad when you create a slave that literally can not fathom not being a slave. The enslavement via mental compulsion is horribly wrong and even worse because of the issues involving what happens when they are unable to serve. In addition to this pointing it out to the enslaved is nearly impossible because those sentient lives literally can not fathom the actual problem with being a slave. Hence my referring it to house elves bit
