They aren’t supposed to be independent or self-aware they are robots designed for a specific purpose and their independence is a malfunction. Your toaster is also not supposed to be self-aware, caring about it’s “enslavement” making toast if it suddenly became self-aware is ridiculous. You seem to be having trouble with the concept.
