i run premades and solo-q, though i will afk out of ashran if im solo and its my first bg of the day.
generally a duelist or glad title, and often if they have a glad mount, they will be flaunting it.
additionally i have a tooltip addon that shows me people’s guild rank, so i can see when people are sorted by their gms.
also, there are addons that will show you someone’s arena rating or history if you click them. i dont run that one because its a performance killer, but its out there.
and finally, when i look them up, for example, i was in a 2v2 at quarry against a fire mage and he stood out to me as particularly good. after i killed him i looked up is armory, 483 fire mage and 2379ish rating in 2s.
absolutely, and they generally aren’t taking a 1400 match as seriously as a 2400 match because they have the 2400 match to stand on. its only someone who hasn’t even tried arena that thinks 1400 is an achievement.
depends on what oyu are doing, if you are going hunting or doing an arena game, take the arena players, but if you are doing epics, take the epic players, its their home turf, they know it well.
basically, in a game of epics vs arena players, the epic players will outplay the arena players while the arena players will out kill the epic players. the arena players will have the largest advantage in small scale pvp like 2v2 and 3v3 flag encounters, however in large scale encounters epic players are back to having the advantage again due to revised and tailored specs for the setting.
pvpers of all types like epics, especially when we are doing premades, 40 people all coordinating around a massive map to do things like ambushes and flanking maneuvers and chaos going off all over the place. its quite fun.
epics fall into the category of hybrid pve/pvp, you need to be good at both pve (playing the map, killing bosses) and pvp(fighting the enemy team). because of its different nature it allows different specs and builds to be opened up, a lot of players queue epics because of that.
they really don’t, that will depend on class obviously, i know unholy the best so its the one i tend to spot. the vast majority of DKs i see in epics are pugs running one of flarkness’s builds. its only the regular epic players that will switch to epic specific specs.
it means that you need both the level of pvp skill to play in sub2k arena and more, in the case of epics thats understanding of the situation, team play, momentum, morale, and other aspects of formation play. take sub2k arena and mix it with heroic raiding and that is what epics are.
this is exactly the mentality that i was referring to in that post, if you objectively look at the difficulty and engagement, sub 2k rated is the same as random bgs, and epics require a little bit more engagement from the player than random bgs.
also, sub2k rated = random bgs doens’t mean that all random bg players are 1999 players, i’ll just point that out now beforehand.
I have zero problems with pre-mades. Just don’t come in trashing me over your puny Hlevels, ok? I have zero problems with those who decide to multi-box. I’ve seen one very very good one. I’d play with him anytime.
I been saying this since bc! Give us all our own rating that determines how we get sent into bgs. when you que they just need an average rating so some people rock a killer rating are paired up with those that dont to average out a random team rating for every bg. its simple enough.
My problem with rated BGs is its impossible to find any communities or guilds that run them continuously. You have to deal with getting 10 people together vs I can message a few people on my friends list (or after a match) and we can go run premade BGs if we want even if it’s only a few of us.
Random BGs are too focused on filling queue times. Alliance only has to wait 2-5 minutes at most whereas I’m told on the horde side its like 25 minutes. The queue master doesn’t care about proper team compositions because too often I’m the sole healer on the team or there’s teams with no healers at all.
Nothing gets me sighing more then when I’m in an epic BG and there’s myself and another healer to try and keep up 25+ players. If I’m running premade BG groups I always try and find a second healer asap to fill in a slot because it doesn’t take much for the enemy team to realize that they just need to run a train on you if you’re the only healer.
I would like to see a random BG match-maker that:
Fills teams in more appropriately based on their iLvl. Nobody wants a 75k HP Mage on their team when the enemy team is running around with 500k HP iLvl 470+. If not try and tier people like: you only have 1 high iLvl person and you’ll get more mid-low tier people.
Keeps team compositions relatively balanced. 10v10 should be 1 tank, 2 healers, 7 dps minimum. 15v15 should be 3 healers, 1-2 tanks, rest DPS.
Honor ranking + scoring should matter. You should be placed with and against people that match your ranking.
RBG solo que is something ive always wanted. Dont change anything now just add the ability to solo que. It doesnt take anything away from the groups that already form and run it. Makes the people crying it promotes afking happy because it does nothing to effect the games they are doing with friends (aka group finder). Not everyone has a set schedule and cant commit set days and times to play. Which is the main reason i tend to stay away from rbgs in general. My choices atm are to spend an hour playing group simulator or just solo q into bgs. Im usually going to pick randoms instead.
You have no evidence for this belief. From both playing in BG’s (and seeing people comment in chat) and watching this forum for years, I’d say that there is a very large section of the populace that hate’s queing into premades.
I’ve played rated BG’s and loved it. I like playing with groups but rated bg’s are on life support. So I can’t do that as easily anymore.
I’m trying to save team play not get rid of it. At no point anywhere in my suggestion is group play discouraged or diminished. It does however minimize geared players grouping up and no-skill stomping noobs in greens. Maybe that’s what you’re worried about losing?
I don’t know what is more stunning this thread or the people that liked it.
NOOOOOOOOO!!! The reason why competitive PvP needs better participation is because it is way to easy to earn conquest. You shouldn’t get conquest from additional BG wins. You shouldn’t get conquest from assaults or CTA.
You should get conquest from Arena/RBGs and if you want to cap conquest you should do that. Which in turn increases competitive PvP participation. Also you make PvP gear BiS in PvP. The reason why participation is down is because of M+ and Raiding to gear.
It’s like you don’t understand PvP at all…
I also don’t think someone who doesn’t even compete in RBGs should be talking about what we need. Just a thought.
So you think removing conquest from CTA quests will increase Rated Battleground participation? I doubt it, because arena is still a much, much easier way to get Conquest.
That hasn’t happened for about four years. We already know that isn’t going to happen in Shadowlands. So what would you propose in the mean time?
I’ve competed in different expansions and pretty much no one is participating right now. One of the main reasons I haven’t this expansion is because I hop in the group finder either see an empty queue or see one maybe two groups that are only for people over 2k rating.
The queue in my battlegroup is literally empty right now. Completely empty. No one is participating. There are plenty of people forming groups for raids, dungeons, quests, arenas, etc… but no one is doing rated battlegrounds.
So what we need to know is either how to bring back people who used to do it (like me) or how to attract people that have never done it.
