Just another week of Fire being terrible

(I mainly PvP, But I assume Fire also has these issues in PvE as well)
The buffs we have gotten the last 2 weeks address literally NONE of the issues fire has.

  • 6% flat buff wasn’t enough.
  • Buffs to AoE that isn’t good enough.
  • Buffs to Phoenix Flames which is already one of our hardest hitting abilties, doubling down on forcing it down our throat along with two 2 bottom talent slots at the end of our tree.
  • Fireball being buffed by 75% in PvP meanwhile, sunfury fire in PvP is borderline unplayable because of the whole premise of building orbs off your hot streak consumptions and also frostfire bringing, frostfire bolt just hitting so much harder, giving us comet storm and ice barrier.

Where are the buffs to single target abilities?

Why does my pyroblast still hit 400k on 7m healthpools in PvP?

Where is living bomb damage/proc rate?

Why was living bomb even removed from an “on use” spell in the first place. This just makes it that much harder to balance.

We have nothing unique when compared to arcane (we cant spam spellsteal) and frost (no double block), all 3 specs have ring of fire, dragons breath, multiple spell schools.

Ignite damage is still low.

In PvP we are forced into glass cannon just to do less damage than everyone else while having less health and having worse defensives/mobility compared to arcane/frost.

Like what are these design choices and why are the numbers being tuned randomly 5-10% on a time for random abilities we barely use in the first place.

Tough times indeed for fire mages in PvP.

Not sure what Blizzard’s philosophy is here. Or why that can’t tune Pyroblast’s damage in PvP alone.

You are correct about the pointlessness of buffing fireball’s damage when Sunfury is about fishing for procs to build orbs.

Who’s leg do we gotta hump to get Blizz to play their own game??

I laughed when I saw the gpie and fireball buff…

I’m full gear and sunfury and I do healer dps. Only saving grace atm is scorch hits for 1.2mil with cds and it a good execute. Outside of that im useless.

What’s odd is that this same scenario happened at the beginning of dragonflight and blizz just kept throwing numbers at it over and over until by the end of the expansion it was so cheesed that the playstyle made mm hunter look complex.

As the OP points out living bomb is the biggest elephant in the room… living bomb is just… what a waste of everything. I would like to see living bomb turn into some version of the old combustion, including the stun aspect, if there’s any mage spec that needs the edge of strong offensive cc it’s fire because you certainly don’t have good defense, i mean cauterize is the poorest excuse of a survival ability in the game - the most damaging ability fire mage has is one that applies to yourself.

I would actually love to see living bomb be removed as a “proc chance” and instead let LIT FUSE be the proc and Living bomb be the on use that has a stun.

fire is op esp with new stun

Weird, according to WC logs, Fire is top DPS now in raid.

It’s only like 5% ahead of next one though that is not nearly enough completely broken still.

Still extremely bad DPS in pvp which is what I mainly care about. Poor mechanics. and the only viable option for pvp is flamestrike build which sucks. Flamestrike for me crits upwards of 800k in pvp and my max pyroblast is only 380k.

Hmmm.

Mythic.

To be fair this may be a case of mechanical influence on dps at that level and fire suffers very little comparative dps loss due to movement compared to many classes.

At ilvl 600 with 2 set i can end fights on m0 and delve bosses around 600 to 800k dps on my mage. Just depends on if i derp my rotation or not.

The problem is fire currently has a reputation so getting one into meaningful content is hard af.

People arent gonna stop derping until fire receives such a huge buff it blows it so far up the OP meter it breaks it when competent people are finally able to do content.

Then it will get slapped down again.

Good God wow players are insufferable lemmings.

Yeah mobility is really the only saving grace of Fire. As Sunfury, your damage outside of Combust is almost meaningless, so you’re free to run around and do mechanics without much loss. As Frostfire, you’re basically never hard casting and have Ice Floes for SKB/SP if you even need it.

Frostfire really just needs love. I wouldn’t say mashing instant casts is hard per se, but compared to Sunfury, you definitely have to be more engaged in order to prioritize/spend the insane deluge of procs that you’re constantly at risk of wasting/overcapping. It feels more like a ranged enhancement shaman (albeit with way fewer buttons) than a Fire mage as we know it. And for all that frantic proc juggling, it does piss poor damage compared to just playing like SL fire.

Fire’s topping mythic raid and mid of the pack of heroic.

Arcane, like always, is falling down the ranks of dps as time passes and will probably end up middle of the pack at best for the millionth expansion in a row.

Frost meanwhile is last place in heroic and second to last in mythic and in heroic its almost being beaten by augmentor.
