This is really starting to grind my gears because I want to max archaeology there. I pity the poor new players who are forced to go through it without the ability to fly that every other expansion grants. I’m not sure why this is still the way it is, since currently it is far easier to get flying in current content than BFA. Please fix. I don’t often ask for things but this would be a boon. Thanks.

This content drought is the perfect opportunity to grind Pathfinder out.
It would have more permanence than any current hamster wheel gear treadmill 9.1 offers.

You’re not wrong. Pathfinder is some of the worst content I’ve ever done in WoW. But it is what it is and after literally thousands of pages of threads, the devs have dug in their heels. Either you do it, or you wait and pray for a maybe in 10.0. End of story.
It’s garbage, but it’s WoW under Ion. Maybe things will change with new leadership but even if it does, you’re still looking at over a year out.
I would honestly advise just holding your nose during a double rep week and getting it over with.

Hrmm I think pathfinder flies by (no pun intended) once you start. Maybe smash it out this weekend.
P.S I am actually working on legacy content at the moment too. I unlocked my cape to allow me to do horrific visions yesterday and am levelling it up.

Cause see it makes even less sense when you consider how easy flying is in current content. Or did I already mention that? Trying to type while I’m on an fp lol.
Also did I mention this is a thing just because I want to max archaeology. Which isn’t even in the current expansion. Fun gate-keeping at it’s finest, I mean if I just want xp for it I actually get more in the old world just no skill ups.

I think that is a credit to shadowlands for them not making requirements like that.
I think they will remove the flying requirement when the next expansion comes so you’re in luck if you don’t want to do it.

Yeah I’ll wait if need be, just a little disappointed I can’t be a professor for awhile yet. I tried ground pounding to the digs but couldn’t make myself do it. Which begs another issue, why on earth would I ever go back there if not for something very specific? It hurts me none at all to not fly there since I’m never there, until I need to be there to do something.

Anyone who says to go get the achievement is just wrong. It should never have been locked in the first place, and it absolutely should not be locked now that the content is irrelevant.
They did it for WoD, they did it for Legion, it’s time to do it for BFA.

Maybe you can tie it into your archeology lore. Zandalar can be uncharted territory in which your services are required for enabling a flight path. In doing so you become an honoured champion of the Horde and uncovering a looming threat in the city, in the northwest sands and help repel a threat in the jungles of the north.

Good Lord. How about we just play the game and quit complaining about something that is easy to do. It takes an achievement to unlock flying…go achieve. I don’t have mounts locked behind achievements. I don’t have Legion weapon appearances locked behind achievements. Flying is an optional part of this game just like all the other achievements. If you want it, do it. If you can’t be bothered because it takes time to do it instead of it being given to you, then you really don’t need it.
Stop crying about there being nothing to do in-game and just play the game.

I mean thats what OP is trying to do, they’re trying to level with archeology so that they can play the game and blizz is like nope no flying for your archeology and completing the silly quest chains to unlock flying so you can level archeology won’t give you xp beyond level 53 or some non sense
And some archeology achievements have progress tied to a character specifically

The OP wants to be given flying without the effort to do archeology. Archeology can still be done on a land mount. Blizzard is in no way stopping their efforts to level archeology.
