He doesn’t; there are many that favor the viewpoint he mentioned, but there are many others that just don’t care that much about the length of the game (within reason); rather, they care about the quality of the matches. If it’s 15mins of ‘nothing can happen until 40% dampening’ matches, of course people are going to (almost unanimously) hate that because the majority of the match is a waste of time… if it’s 15mins of gameplay where every moment is impactful and a mistake or two at any point could get you killed, a lot more people would find that agreeable, regardless of whether the average match is 5mins or 15.

Game duration is such a terrible metric for PvP quality and it makes me so itchy when people scrutinize it as if it’s an actual problem itself rather than a symptom of other underlying problems.
It’s infinitely better for the health of the game if development focuses on improving the quality of PvP, rather than letting the PvP quality take a back seat to hitting some arbitrary 3-6mins duration goal to appease short-sighted zoomers.

i was legit fighting 44k hp death knights before i ever made it to 1k cr when i was doing arena on my DK. lol. they r just so out of touch

Yes absolutely, this is all you’d find any competitive player want. The better you get you just want more to do. Long games that are intense are enjoyable, a long game that’s long because nothing matters until deep damp is just a waste of time if you’re a very serious team.

With a lot of these answers, I’m left wondering what they’re actually doing with their time. Of course, I’m not a game designer, but I actually don’t understand the lack of content updates to PvP. Holinka makes it seem like they’ve spent all their time on the PvP talent refresh. Everything else is “It’s on our radar, at some point. We’ve thought about it. Maybe in the future. We have other priorities.” I’m typically charitable to game designers’ excuses for why things are delayed, etc. However, I can’t look at PvP in SL and think: Yeah, they’re putting in WORK.

I like Holinka but when he mentioned their analytics scientists I knew this game would forever be fked and nothing the players say or what the devs actually think is good (i.e. fun but maybe not the most optimal for milking people of cash) will matter much.

one of these days people are going to realize that pvp in wow is not a priority, never has been a priority and that if you want to play a purely focused pvp game you should probably look elsewhere.
