You’re correct, according to your numbers a little over 13 million do say it after college however over 310 million do not.

exactly the number of WotLK subbers

We’re so close everything seems like it could be something.

If I thought it was in any way related it’d be because Blizzard’s a well known company, and WoW is a big name title and with Classic seemingly around the corner, it would be smart to temporarly disable a feature that provides in game benefits for grouping with your friends so no % of the guaranteed returning players coming to try Classic mistakenly RaF themselves or others thinking those benefits will apply to Classic.

But seeing how coincidence is a thing it is most likely just that.

Maybe Blizzard is doing its best to reduce server load on the first few days?

You know, today’s Blizzard bases on 700k subbers paying thousands in the cash shop, rather than 7000k subbers paying 15$ monthly

That would perfectly line up with the lack of advertising, lack of release date, and the idea of sharding.

i could see RAF being dropped a month before Classic to build up some hype and try to get other older players to try to buy into BFA before classic comes out

how the removal of marketing can help gain customers?

if classic was being released soon. Drop RAF - hype up classic with a deal on the BFA xpac and saying having current sub live when classic drop gives instant release (we already know this ofc, but its a good gimmick to try to promote people trying out BFA before classic)
