Johnny Awesome - was this really necessary?

This is true. I think he stores his collection of vintage jelly beans in the empty space.

the quest is a joke on types of players, as well as jokes of how the people see the specific races. if you played wow long enough youd get the joke clearly you dont.

I disagree. It’s punching down, no different than racial humor. All it does is make it easier for those in power to keep the marginalized down. It’s far too easy to not take someone seriously if you are making jokes at their expense. Look at when Rachel Levine was nominated for Assistant Secretary for Health. The first thing the right wing pundits did was start making fun of her appearance as a transgender woman. Hur dur she looks like a man! They did this because it makes it much easier to dismiss what she says and her as a person.

If we want to move forward as a society we need to let that sort of humor fade away. Humor can be a great uplifter but it can also be a tool of suppression.

Yes.

Also this is a non-issue.

I’m confused, what is the point of this post?

When I did the Johnny Awesome quest a few months ago they still thought he was a she? Or maybe I misremember.

You lost a cheap chuckle.

Possibly others lost a painful reminder of the numerous times they were intentionally or unintentionally misgendered.

I dunno, let’s make a big deal about it on the forums?

If anything, Dumass is in poor taste as well.

Johnny Awesome, yeah I remember her, was a fun quest. What was that? You don’t approve of my choice of pronouns? {INSERT ICREDIBLY RUDE AND POLITICALLY INCORRECT COMMENT HERE}.

Oh, and have a nice day! :innocent:

Semper Fi! :us: :ukraine:

Have you played SL much?

Also, it IS misgendering, since the NPCs have known your character long enough to know what the character “identifies” as. You can’t selectively choose who is “misgendered” and who isn’t they are calling the person the wrong gender.

I think only once in Ardenweald did I get called “they.” Which is a common usage in English grammar to be neutral.

It’s not. I already proved that.

Which NPCs are consistently calling you “they?”

“They” is neutral. It has no gender. I’ve specifically linked you a boatload of explanations of this. There is no gender for “they/them.” It’s neutral on purpose, used when someone doesn’t know and easy to input into a game file if needs be. But aside from one lousy instance, I have no idea where you’re getting this idea that everyone’s calling you “they” or that it’s misgendering.

im gonna write them a strongly worded letter and cry tonight bc they changed this quest :frowning: . My whole day is ruined and I no longer want to play :frowning:

Much as I dislike the puddle shallow revisionism that’s been happening these days, I can’t say I’m too sad to see this one go. It was essentially a dev endorsed perpetuation of a meme that never made sense and, to me, was never funny and deserves to die the quickest possible death for its idiocy.

Wait, Johnny is a DUDE?? I thought BEs only turned into men under a full moon or something?

It’s going to be brutal for both sides when the pendulum flips back. What is, was, and will be again, back and forth because that’s how humans are. One side does X. Y side gets mad. Y side gets power. Does Y. X gets mad. X Side gets power. Does X.

…Repeat through out all of history.
