Jerks Griefing lowbies

I leveled my first two characters on a PvP server. After i got the first one leveled to max and started leveling the other one, I parked my max level one in the same zone I was leveling in so that I could hop on it and track down the person bothering my lower level one.

I haven’t been playing with WM on this expansion, but have been considering it just to get a couple of other alts leveled a bit quicker before Shadowlands drops, and if I do I will be parking my best geared 120 in the area just in case I get ganked on my leveling character.

What really should happen is removing the bonus for turning war mode on.

That way only those that understand and like the danger of PVP would flag up and folks like the OP, who want something for nothing, would stay out of war mode.

Ever heard of Elitist Jerks?

If you played Alliance on Mal’Ganis in Vanilla, you’d just accept this and move on.

Doesnt seem like a complex concept, does it?
Youre going to die and waste some time…so heres some extra experience to make up for it.

Turn WM off or die. Red is dead.

Imagine how angry players would actually be if a level 10 twink killed their level 60 in Shadowlands. Is that the suggestion?

That would undoubtedly be the death of War Mode. Even many who enjoy PvP wouldn’t bother flipping it on if there were nothing compensating for the inevitable time lost, especially now when timegates and reps are a central point of xpac design.

Ugh so much this. And all the skeletons of the battle scattered all over the place. I miss that so much.

I know in BC with lvl 1 twinks is could be done. Very slowly I might at but still.

They’re the same. Ganking was always an issue, only MMORPG that did that part right was gw2 where you scale down to level of zone you’re inside, which neutered ganking, but WoW follows different principles that allow you to steamroll old content, but on top of that allow ganking.

As everyone says, turn off WM if it bothers you, the 10-30% xp reward is for taking the risk, you want a safe space? Go for safe space.

Thanks for the reminder OP, I need to go get my weekly ganking done in duskwood.

OP wants punishment. Not to level peacefully. which is embarassing

Pretty sure the moderators take a shot everytime someone complains about pvp with warmode on.

It’s World PVP, it’s kinda what you sign up for. You have to take into account for losers that will gank lowbies. Hell, that outlands zone has had that issue for a long time.

Just a silly thing to do for people who want to troll lowbies or suck at actual PVP so they pick on the smaller folks.

As someone who’s leveled up dozens of characters, I’ve literally never had this problem.

If a high level kills me. I just wait 2 minutes and respawn. If he kills me again, I res in a bush and port to my hub to turn WM off. The XP bonus is nice but it’s really not a big deal. The continents are SO easy to get around in and this isn’t a systemic problem.

So, what was the original draw to PVP servers?

Leveling is fast enough without warmode.

If its that big of a pr9blem, turn it off. Not sorry that you dont get to enjoy the benefits of wm without risks.

Easy solutions are available. If leveling takes you through so much time and problems that wm is essential, youre either just mass leveling toons for some reason or arent effective leveling in the first place.

PvP servers were different because everybody on the server had the same “handicap”. You weren’t really losing time on progress, because everybody else was in the same boat.

War Mode changed that. By choosing to turn it on, you’re choosing to disadvantage yourself at the PvE part of the game relative to your WM-off counterparts.

Not sure if there’s any need for that, I play on relatively large realm and have only been ganked twice on my route 1 to 118 last few days.

While the easy option is to just go to a different zone or turn off Warmode, I will suggest again an anti griefing option.

Note: this is not intended to stop such things just to curtail longterm ganking by individuals.

My idea is that killing a character (player only) that is too low to yield xp/honor/count towards pvp quests will give you a stacking debuff for ten minutes.

This debuff starts as basically nothing, but around 40 stacks or so makes you weak enough that that lowbie you’re fighting actually can hurt you, and at 50-60 can almost 1 shot you. 70 or more and a squirrel can kill you.

This won’t stop griefing but will stop things like we see in Duskwood from being a huge problem.

On PVP servers, the playing field was level because everyone had to level that way.

In addition, there was no unrealistic “bluewalling” and people weren’t originally allowed to have characters on both factions.
