He was a very polite and respectful poster that offered his opinion. This happens like literally thousands of times a day on every game forum, across twitch, and every other social media outlet. Everyone is entitled to their opnions.
Her reply was extremely disrespectful and insulting in sharp contrast to Deroir’s comments.
You make it sound like it’s now impossible for her to communicate with her former colleagues outside of that work laptop. I think someone who worked as a lead designer can afford more than one gaming laptop. Using your company laptop for personal stuff is not very smart, as your personal data can be logged and then used against you.
Just because you have an opinion, doesn’t mean you should be sharing it. There’s a time and a place for everything, and that was clearly NOT the correct time and place. Injecting yourself into someone elses twitter feed and telling them how to do their job is never going to work well.
At best, you’ll get a curt response and then you’ll get muted/blocked. At worst, you’ll get ripped into, and quite frankly, I’d be doing the latter, because I don’t like it when folks uneducated about the industries I work in try to tell me how best to do my job.
I think this is the attitude that got her fired. This is twitter we are talking about. If you think offering a polite respectful opinion on twitter is somehow offensive, then you are likely doomed to repeat her mistake.
Yup, but the good thing about the forums is that developers can generally avoid it for the most part. There are employees who screen the forums and collect all the notes without any of the drama.
Twitter on the other hand doesn’t have that same benefit.
