Moments like these are the reason I still play this game. Having a serious case of nostalgia after this lucky battleground:

I feel like I got to see a legendary creature. Haven’t seen old Ivus in years. I wonder what the percentage of battlegrounds that actually summon him is like? Under 1%?
Thanks to everyone in that BG. If you’re reading this, what an awesome match.

Thanks for sharing your pictures!
I’d recommend posting in the Epic Battleground Feedback thread saying how much you enjoyed the match so that they can see it’s the direction we want the battleground to go in, rather than the opposite (and there have been a fair few naysayers in that thread recently!).

I was in that AV with you.
We defended like champs and pushed that horde filth back where they came from.

It’s happening more and more Alliance side!

Ethendral, was that you in SH bunker? There was a nelf priestess in there but I didn’t take note of names.
Nah, it’s not 1% of battlegrounds, definitely under 10% though due to the rush strats that are preferred by random PUGs. Most AV’s simply don’t last long enough, so successful summons are infrequent.
It’s not as “rare” as you think. In fact, you could summon Ivus every single game if you wanted to - it’s just that bg casuals are lazy and/or don’t turn in their items. It’s the same thing on Horde, I remember back in the summer I had to pretty much beg PUGs to come and help summon Ice Lord or click on the altar.
I made a thread dedicated specifically to these bosses a while back (on the old forums?), but here is the TL;DR “process”:
STEP 1: collect 200 “Storm Crystal” for Ivus / collect 200 “Stormpike Soldier’s Blood” for Ice Lord, these items are looted from the corpses of dead enemy players (in other words, you have to PvP to get them)
STEP 2: actually turn in these items at the Alliance / Horde base respectively (most important part!)
STEP 3: have ~10 peeps ready in the middle of the map for when the Ivus summoners / Ice Lord summoners arrive, time is of the essence since the summoner NPCs can sometimes bug out if attacked by enemy players - it’s best to be quick
STEP 4: have all 10 players click on the summoning thingie and don’t move, the process seems to take about ~15 seconds so ideally mid should be clear of enemy players when you attempt this
That’s really all there is to it, it’s not really “complicated” it’s just that casuals are lazy and either don’t hand in their items or don’t pay attention to the chat.

I was in a random PUG that summoned Ivus last night (12/27), not sure if the OP was in that one though. Unfortunately, we only summoned Ivus like 3 minutes before the game ended, so he didn’t see much action. The final time on the board was something like 53-55 minutes.
OP, in that AV you mentioned was the Horde turtled up at the Horde keep while the Alliance team was concentrated at FWGY keeping them pinned inside the base? Did the game end with a Galv kill by Ally? If that’s the one you’re talking about, I was in that one. If not, I wasn’t in it.
Well, a few Horde players can throw the whole thing for a loop. You need to make sure no Horde are around to disrupt, because it does bug easy

Not always though, but I agree it’s very hit or miss if the NPCs get attacked by enemy players.
I’ve been in PUGs that summoned Ivus despite the summoner NPCs getting tagged by AOE, and the summon still went thru. It’s always a good idea to try the summon again once the area is clear of enemy players, you never know
I know for a fact Ice Lord can still be summoned with just one of the summoner Shamans still alive, and not even the “Primalist” one. Over the summer I had one summon where Ally harassment killed all but one of the summoner Shamans including the main “Primalist” one. We went back and tried the summon again “one last time”, and it went off! Ice Lord appeared, much to our surprise

Good to know. There was one (summoned him 3/4 times this week) where we tried a good five minutes and gave up. Score was 500+ us to horde having 130ish reinforcements so the game was ours either way.
One thing’s for sure though: I’ve never seen a successful summon happen when all the summoner NPCs were dead, and I’ve been in PUGs on both sides that tried to summon when the NPCs were dead and… nothing.
Keeping at least one of the summoner NPCs alive seems to be a pre-requisite, which is why controlling mid is so important. Ideally you should “already” be dominating the match beforehand, so there is a reduced risk of disruptions.
Earlier today (about 2 hours ago?) we managed to summon Ivus twice in back-to-back AVs, so I’ve seen Ivus pop 3 times this week.
Not sure if something’s in the air or if a bunch of Horde mercs are queueing this weekend, but for some strange reason Alliance has just been ON-POINT today. We also didn’t have as many rage-quitters as we usually do, most peeps stuck it out despite the rough start.
It is indeed happening more and more hehe, it’s good to see that awareness is spreading among PUGs
Just wanted to mention, on our first summon today we had some Mage run up and drop AOE on us 2 or 3 times, then a Demon Hunter leaped onto us with that one “leap” AOE stun move. We killed them both and quickly got back on the summoning stone, we still got Ivus out
Another reminder that if you get interrupted, simply try again asap, it doesn’t always bug out
Lucky!
I have seen people mention him, and trying to summon him, but never seen it done.
Wish I would have been there!
It’s not “luck”, help your team make it happen
Good point. I’m pretty quiet in Bg’s. Enough people arguing makes it hard to get a word in edgewise without getting drawn into the “shut the eff up” wars.
Don’t be! Shout it out, spam it. Get people excited! Or piss yourself off because no one is listening but you are trying so hard
I think the “main guy” - Primalist or Archdruid - needs to be alive and present at the summon for the summon to work. If they are killed I don’t know if they will respawn and/or how long it will take for the respawn.
I thought about it, but don’t want to be reported for spam and silenced or something.
